Affordable Japanese Calatrava - Seiko SACM171 Review
Переглядів 36 тис.2 роки тому
This Seiko SACM171 is the Calatrava every man and woman needs. It is affordable yet highly executed with nothing to match at this price. Seiko has outdone themselves with this. The best kept secret on this watch is the 8J41 movement within. This high accuracy quartz movement is among the best you will get in a thin and elegant watch. It has an accuracy rating of 10 seconds per year. I have not ...

Special Seiko Mini Turtle You Have Never Seen!
On the contrary, the "Dolce" branding, for me, gives the timepiece some sophisticated appeal. But that's just me.
Thanks for watching! I understand what you mean. It adds it’s own charm as I well I guess.
I just recently purchased the SLA047J1 MM300 and am extremely impressed and satisfied with this watch. The best watch I’ve ever owned and nothing compares to it .
Glad you are enjoying it!!
It is a beautiful watch, no doubt. I wish the lug to lug was less.
Yep! The long lugs make it hard to wear on small wrist
A lady's watch
😂
Is it 40mm or 35mm ? And what do u think about the mother of pearl dial on the 35mm
Thanks for watching! This is the 40mm version. I personally am not into mother of pearls dial.
I recently picked up the SPB105J1 MM200 and love it .
That’s a really good choice! A collectors watch for sure
I have an 8 inch wrist, is there an equivalent that would fit for that?
I am certain this wouldn’t fit on an 8 inch wrist. Mine is 7 inches. Maybe look into vintage grand or king quartz. Slightly bigger but still beautiful pieces.
+5 seconds a day? thats rough, my SLA023J1 is running at +2 in real world use
Wrist size? 7.5?
A, ok, 7 inch. Are you sure? Looks very good on your wrist
Yep! Pretty sure. Thank you!
How much did you pick it up for?
I bought it at launch for around 350USD
@@nexttimewatchreview does yours get much wrist time? Feels like one that is nicer to behold rather than wear day in day out... Someone offered me today a second hand unit for $630 USD. Do you think it's a good price? Still in good condition.
Not much even when my collection was small. It’s hard to wear on a daily basis. Especially now that I have got nicer pieces. I’d say that it’s worth the price if you’re a Seiko collector or just really like it. Otherwise skip it.
@@nexttimewatchreview thanks for sharing your thoughts. Makes sense. What are your go-to nowadays and what do you mean by better? As in quality, built and movement?
You’re welcome! I have been enjoying the GSHOCK GBDH2000. It’s been my daily. But I consider it a wearable rather than a watch. When I said better I meant other time pieces in my collection like the MM300, MM200, Oris, etc. So yea, quality, built and movement. All three.
I almost bought this watch but i could not get passed on the wobbly gmt hand.
Understandable, one of the underlying reason I sold it…
Sapphire crystal
Not on this one
Great review, now will get one. Thanks
Glad I could help! Enjoy the watch!
Nadie en todos los videos k e visto de este reloj se le iluminó la bombilla y dijo voy. A cambiarle la correa tsss
Don’t buy the watch with a rubber strap. Buy it with the bracelet then buy the strap, you’ll lose a lot of money if you buy it with rubber strap first.
That depends on perspective. If you’re only after the resale value, then correct. But if you are just into watches for the fun and the joy, just buy what you like. I don’t think there is a balance between spending wisely on a watch and trying to get exactly what you desire. You have to choose one unless you’re lucky…
the blue strap surprisingly compliment the watch very well
Yes! I keep wearing it on this strap. The leather it comes with is very stiff and I can’t seem to break it in.
What is the size of your wrist? It looks great on you! I have a 6.5" wrist and from what I've seen, this model looks a tad too big or just barely wearable for my wrist size.
My writs is 7inches. I suggest you try it out in person. It wears smaller than the size suggests :)
Would definetly consider one if I didn't have my Tissot pr100 33mm with a cream white dial and the pm80 movement
They are very different. But if that floats your boat then enjoy it!
@@nexttimewatchreview Yeah, more a mix of having the Tissot and the Seiko SNKL23J I guess, don't buy any watches that overlaps with how I use ones I already have
I’m a woman who’s looking for something thin, high quality, and not blinged out for use as a “daily driver”. That’s hard in the 30-34mm range! This seems perfect, it’s the right size and has a really subtle beauty to it. I do find the white dial/black strap to be a subtlely feminine look but it’s the kind of look men can rock if they don’t worry about it. It seems like these have gone out of production but I’m thinking of picking up one off of eBay anyway.
That’s true! It does fit a woman quite nicely. If you don’t mind ordering from Japan, you can get one from here: www.sakurawatches.com/seiko-dolce-sacm171
Where can i but that nato strap
It’s from strapcode. Enjoy!
Also, good clone is still WAY more expensive than something like a Seiko Mod. I have a Yacht-Master (Marine Master) Seiko Mod, and it's really really nice.
Hello.First of all thanks for the video it really helped me..I loved the dam watch and i cant hold my self from buying it which soon i will.Btw 0:59 yoda is scary...
Why this watch is called Pilot Watch ?. Is it Pilot Watch?.
Thanks for watching! Haha Yoda is a mainstay. One of the reasons it’s called a pilot watch is because of the big crown. This aids in easy time setting for pilots (not commercial pilots) who wears thick gloves and needs to adjust time as they cross time zones.
@@nexttimewatchreview so ehmm not only pilots using this right 😁.
Great review thanks! Lower volume music or music with a softer beat would help free your wonderful review from distraction.
Thanks for watching! Yea I messed up the found mixing on this one. Thanks for the feedback :)
That's one butt ugly watch
The bracelet is fine. Not as good as Rolex but it looks great and the quality is good for the money.
I have the same watch! Are there visible scratches? I bought this because I was looking for durable and robust watches. This one showed up.
No visible scratches yet. However if that is what you are concerned about there are variation of this watch that have a ceramic shroud. Those will not scratch at all.
@@nexttimewatchreview thank you for your response. Right now what I have is the Seiko Tuna Street Series SNE533P1. May I know the code for the ceramic ones?
This one, but it’s quite old see if you can find them 2nd hand SBDX014
Almost everything about this watch is perfect. Fantastic build quality, well-priced and good looking. The one thing that is devastatingly wrong though is the hands. The GMT hand is far too large for its function as a secondary complication. It should be much more discrete. The skeletonizing of the minute hand reduces its legibility even in broad daylight. Viewing the time in the dark is almost impossible. The huge lume section on the GMT hands obscures the applied markers, and the lume potion of the minute hand gets completely lost in front of the markers, and is outshone by the GMT lume. I bought this watch because I like Mido, they are good watches, and I needed a diver/GMT for my diving trips abroad, but I’ve found that I don’t like it much because of it’s legibility.
Very interesting POV. thanks for watching and sharing!
Hi, do you know if they made this in a 36mm? I can see there are 36mm versions of the black and blue dials but I cannot find the red one in 36mm anywhere
No they do not make the red in 36mm sadly. At least not this shade.
I am trying to figure which to purchase between this and the tag huer aqua racer with a red dial.
Hard to say. I have never handled a Tag. But I have no regrets with this one and have just purchased another Oris Aquis in Cherry red
Thanks you for the review. What is your wrist size please?
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching. My wrist size is 7 inches.
Reason number 4: It has a universal lugs for a 22mm straps/bracelets.
Valid!
Its a Seiko dive watch that looks like every other Seiko dive watch. Too expensive too average.
Thanks for sharing
1200 USD? where did you get it from? The retail is 2150?
In Thailand, we have dealers who gives you really really good prices on Oris. Even the cal 400 can be had lower than 3K USD
What's your wrist size?
7 inches
Finally I got one and I’m satisfied with my purchase.
Congratulations!
Why can't they make this in a 36-38mm?
Not sure but that would be a great size too. However, this is not a bad size at all
I really wanted the green one but saw it in the shop and thought it was black. So I’m not so excited by it anymore. I already have quite a few blue watches but that’s the only other option IMO. Unsure what to get at this point.
Yea… the green one doesn’t really shine on these PRX. Maybe consider the white one if you are into that? Or look at the recent Christopher Ward?
Where to buy?
Sakurawatches, check them out I bought it from them.
Link to the strap please. Thank you.
Here you go, enjoy!: m.aliexpress.com/store/4553075
@@nexttimewatchreview Hi there. did you purchace a blue and red and then use half of each?
Same reason why I love my Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep! Excellent watch!❤
Ahhh I would love to get my hands on a PO!
Have an Omega Seamaster, but I prefer to wear the Seiko Lx spring more .because it's a better movement and steathweath 😂😂
Nice watch but no calatrava rival... would be better if you used a seiko UTD model instead. Now that is a real calatrava rival.
Not very affordable that Seiko.
@@nexttimewatchreview maybe some of the older quartz credors? Stunners and affordable!
Yes! This Seiko actually houses a Credor movement. I am looking for a good condition older Credor quartz.
This is basically a Swatch Skin in metal and with a great movement lmao
Hahaha no it’s not… way different league. Go check it out in person.
@@nexttimewatchreview It was meant in terms of site, proportions and thickness.
Can't hear your voice due to the music.
Yea… messed up the sound on this one…
Они у тебя как на карандаше висят😂😂😂
I totally agree. I've had an 021 for a year or so and it's become my go to watch. I have been merciless with it, including body surfing with the Kids and clattering it on pebbles etc. Barely a mark. It's difficult to explain why it feels so good to wear, and also it needs some user time on the wrist to fully enjoy it - first feeling is wow its heavy, but that dissappear quickly. The micro adjust is great for hot days and cold days as my wrist swells up. I like its quiet and unassuming looks. But most of all I like the feeling of total quality it gives the wearer. I have much more expensive watches that don't feel this special to wear. I'd urge anyone thinking to try one on - definitely wear smaller than the specs suggest. My SKX wears bigger.
Thanks for sharing! It’s a beautiful piece. I am slimming down my collection and this one is as far away from the chopping block as can be 😂 Enjoy your watch! Would love to hear from you again in the comment next year about how you are enjoying it a year later from now :D
@@nexttimewatchreview will do. At the moment, I can't see my feelings changing. If anything, the MM300 has halted my new watch enthusiasm. I've always liked Seikos and older pieces are what I'm looking at now - maybe a Pogue?
Music?
Fine review! Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
What about the glacier blue dial? Any thoughts?
From the photos it looks dope! If it’s anything like this Seiko in real life it would amazing! ua-cam.com/video/c0yscLhrbio/v-deo.html
I have the SKX Diverse as i also have two Seiko Samurai's my next will be the Seiko Marine Master ! Very well done review.
I think you will really enjoy it!!
