Hey mate cheers. That rod is a tairyo 2-3 kg. It’s a Japanese brand that was here in aus briefly about 12 years ago. Have to buy them online now I believe. Unfortunately that rod snapped when I hooked a fish this season, I was devastated. Was my favourite for years. As for casting light lures, yes it was good. I find a shorter rod, and really whip the lure when I cast works. It seems to generate a bit more power if the lure is hanging about 15-20 cm from tip of the rod when you launch your cast. But can be very accurate with a bit of practice.

@@freshwaterfishingaustralia1015 cool thanks. I was thinking the Shimano curado 2-4kg 1-10g cast weight. It’s 6”10. So not short might look for something shorter.

That rod was 5foot 10 inches. I just fin shorter rods work for me with the baitcaster, others might not agree. I now use a shimano maikuro 2-4. Handles those bigger fish a bit better.

He's a fisho not a commentator. One of my good mates. He's about the hunt and catch. I personally prefer the no bullshit commentary.
