    I have always said that but what should the minimum wage be? Because that means all other salaries have to increase too. So realistically, $100k a month for minimum wage? Cause that would be nice.

      The real issue is that there is no system in pace to stop multi million dollar companies from using minimum wage as an excuse to underpay their employees.

      The economic situation and underpayment in Jamaica contribute to the challenges people face. We need to address these issues and support each other in finding solutions.

      @Beyondthe9to5_Podcast I agree 100%. I'm from Grenada 🇬🇩 and we in the Caribbean always have negative things to say about Black Americans, but they forced the US government in the immigration act of 1965 to remove the cap on Africa and the Caribbean people to come here and our families to work and earn in safety. Instead of saying "thank you" we talk crap and look at the state of our countries and we're a MAJORITY in all the highest offices. Shame.

    29:02 really hit the nail on the head by describing the current status of the majority of relationships right now. I want so much more for my peers - we're too young to be having grown ass adults who act like kids make us parents before time.

    • @Beyondthe9to5_Podcast
      @Beyondthe9to5_Podcast 5 місяців тому

      Absolutely! It's frustrating to see so many relationships stuck in that cycle. We all deserve better, and it's crucial for us to uplift each other. By being dependable and supporting our peers, we can break free from these patterns and grow into the adults we want to be, not the ones forced by circumstances. Let's strive to be the change and support system we all need.

    I recently started volunteering with Kiwanis, so I can develop leadership qualities, communication skills, meet new people and help my community. So far there are a lot of people from different backgrounds that I've had the pleasure of listening to, who presented on their journey. Having someone who has similar goals who has already been through it is something I yearn for and I think will happen.

      We can understand where you're coming from. But, toughing it out at the coalst of your mental health means that you have been putting in the work and you have been sticking to it, and it has gotten progressively harder. Our perspective is from a responsible adults one not a slacker.

    I think people think those jobs are so noble because you “save lives” and “teach the next generation”, and a call center job on the other hand seems baseless and without much meaning to most because it seems easy - when that’s not even the case. It’s so much harder than people think to work under such pressure, unrealistic expectations and sometimes having your whole pay being dependent on whether your customer has been going through something completely unrelated to you as an individual. The internal work it takes to work there is no joke and people need to put some more respect on their name because they’re often balancing multiple jobs at the same time too - just like other hardworking and “prestigious” workers.
