In this episode of mHUB Inside, Quinn tests a new pressurization system for the Boss LS-3655. Laser cutters shoot off a lot of material, and the mirrors an quickly become clouded and less effective. Die Cutting, UV Printing, and Laser Cutting for Handmade Luxury Bags
Thanks for the explanation! I'm looking to do something similar for a new game and have some questions about your MDF forms. You mentioned that you thought you needed holes to help pull down to the bottom of the pockets. Did that turn out to be necessary? What draft angle did you use when designing the form? Did you finish the MDF in any particular way before using it? I also am curious why you went with 1.5mm styrene, did you try other thicknesses as well? Super cool project overall and thanks again for sharing.
I want to show you these cool upgrades we made! Can we have the files for ours?…. No..
I'd love to get that file from you, if you're willing to share it.
Did he say $15 for 1/2 hr cutting?
hi my waze machine is for sale like new thanks
I want one so I can fly away from trouble
This thing was a POS at $400... and now they want nearly $900 for one? You've got to be kidding!
Can it cut AR steel?
how bout cutting something out of "fused glass" ....saw the stained glass sample.....thinking of using fused glass instead
plaNs available?
We miss you Quinn !
USA.
Hi. Can I send you a slab of my Guatemalan Jadeite Jade to see if it will cut it?
Quinn, congrats on the new position at Influit Energy! It sounds like a wonderful opportunity and important to the future of energy storage. And congrats to you Kim for your pregnancy and I hope one of your innovators has built a baby diaper changing robot!
Her: "You were telling me about the BLADE in here earlier" Me: *facepalm*
*holds dosing cup*, and what is this for? 🤦
Will it cut 1/4 steel?
Any chance you will make the file available for the shroud? I would love to try this on my Boss. Thank you for the update!
Where could we buy that dust shield?
Looks solid and amazing
Oh nice touch with the padding on the bottom of the dosing cup, I like that.
2nd Batch isn't coming with the case though (it's an extra charge) :( Although with a referal code from an original backer, you can get it as a free bonus I believe. I like those Pelican (type?) cases, they're virtual indestructible, and waterproof! I have one for my photography gear.
Unlike anything else in the makerspace, this costs quite a bit to run. Do you charge members by the minute of pump time? Or is there another way to cover the cost of the expendables?
Most usage of equipment in the shop is covered by mHUB membership fees. There are a few that require an additional rental fee - including this one. The others are the fiber laser and UV printer due to the direct cost of consumables. For the water jet, we charge $25/half hour which includes material and maintenance.
@@mHUBInside Thanks for the info. We are considering getting a Wazer for The MakerBarn, but first we have to come up with a good way to track pump time for a user. We may tie it into our MACS user access system.
Any further progress / updates to this project?
Some kinks needed to be worked out. It will probably be one of our next videos and let you know what's up.
@@mHUBInside Looking forward to it. Thanks for the reply.
WAM Water Abrasive Machining maybe.
Great idea and initiative. What would you do if you needed a bigger honeycomb bed than you could find? I have an older version of this machine, it's Ls 4055 and can't find one. Boss hasn't gotten back to me yet.
We've bought unexpanded honeycomb and expanded it ourselves and cut to size. Caveat: it is surprisingly difficult to fully expand. We'll make a video the next time we do it!
Love seeing some bts
oh and the virtual tour of the mHUB building is great.
Love that you found the virtual tour. And thanks! For anyone else: www.mhubchicago.com/virtual-tour
Cable option sounds great. Cable management when you have an espresso machine, kettle and multiple grinders is important.
Nice video, thanks! Only other piece I would have liked to know would be the overall durability of each
great behind the scenes. i truly love this grinder. more so than i thought i would. small compact size the the feedback that was given to the team seems like they are very well received which the next batch will show hopefully. good to see a company that takes feedback well. but as a first iteration, you guys knocked it out of the park. congrats to your team!!!
Do you have the 3-D Printed Dust Shield for the 2nd Mirror available ?
I have one, it's an amazing grinder and so well designed and built! amazing that it's made in the usa
Agreed. Super cool how local the supply chain and parts manufacturers are.
Beautiful and insane grinder!
Can it cut on a 45 degree angle?
Nope. The water jet is a fixed gantry. It does not tilt :)
why use this over a fiber laser. or co2 laser ?
Good question. We utilize it for metal that is too thick to go our fiber laser and it's also good for ceramics and glass as well as rubbers/neoprene when trying to prevent a singed/sooty edge.
Going out on a limb would you have a sharable file?
Thanks for asking! It's not our file to share. You can learn more about the company who makes these in the description.
Would you be willing to share any info on the ways covers? (How youade them)
We're working on it. Stay tuned.
@@mHUBInsideprogress? Dying to make a set over here
How can I get the info you mentioned for the way covers?
We're working on it. Stay tuned.
are you selling way covers? I'd buy them.
Ha good to hear. But no, we're not selling them. Just an improvement for our shop in Chicago. Thanks for asking!
@@mHUBInside if you change your mind.....I'd pay handsomely....
That "missing washer" dilemma... I almost did the exact same thing, haha. I even contacted my boss and told him that some washers were missing and asked if it was ok to go with it. Now thankfully, I discovered that other bag before I actually used any unlike you poor souls 😁
😆
Awesome, I love to see anything cnc !!
Thanks for posting this! Helps me know what to expect. I just received my unit today. Curious how long it wound up taking you to get everything assembled and connected? Cheers, and have fun with the new toy!
It took two of us about 2 hours or so for initial setup. We then fiddled around for another hour or two with the set up of the area around the machine after finally settling on a location and adjusting some water and drainage after some testing. Have fun!
@@mHUBInside Thanks for the extra info!
Yes i have been looking for awhile on how to fix my turntable.. I funded it through kickstarter
As slow as my Flow Mach 200 60,000 PSI is in thicker materials, this would be mind torture to try and use.
Always at the top!
Need!
How good does it cut 17-4 stainless steel
Would love more info, plans, video, whatever you're up for!
