On our channel we are uploading videos from works we do on a piece of land in the north of Portugal. We are planning to reconstruct two ruins that were abandoned for more than 40 years. The plot is located in a beautiful valley close to a river, that you will hear in the background in most of our clips.
With our videos we want to share our passion for being out in nature and building nice stuff and we are really glad having found such a great community here on youtube who appreciates our approach and gives such constructive feedback!

Stone House Renovation - Part 2: Opening a window
We are going to open three windows in the existing western wall. Here is a detailed video documenting the opening of the first window.
Also take a look at Needle Beams, a safer option when opening larger windows: ua-cam.com/video/C2UNJHhxeXo/v-deo.html
Working with heavy stones, and opening a window is dangerous. Do not try this at home. Ask a professional to do it.

Stone House Renovation - Part 1: The Walls
Переглядів 89 тис.2 місяці тому
Here we are refurbishing the walls of an abandoned stone house in ruins. First we removed the ivy that had taken over the walls. Some of it was more than 10 years old. Then we started cleaning the walls with a pressure washer and finally filled the gaps of the ancient dry wall with mortar. Also we took out the old rotten oak beams to make room for new ones. Working at height is dangerous. Do no...

Long time since you posted any updates. I hope you both are doing well
Hi HannaZiadeh, thanks for reaching out. Hope you are also doing good! Yes you are right, we were quite busy with building stuff and our jobs the last month. Unfortunately we could not yet find the freetime to cut the next video, but amount of footage is growing. Hope to upload a new one soon :)
gran trabajo ¡¡¡¡
Great job!
Great job, love it!
Wow, a work of art! Very nice!
Чувак, очень много суеты и бессмысленно убитого времени. Видно, что у тебя нет первоначального плана и представления, чего ты хочешь?
bro didnt even show the finished product
Brother what is up with that tape measure
It is in Portugal
Good job
beautiful house, but you basically destroyed the traditional building style by pointing in the outside and with cement mortar of all things. Well it's just one more ruin ruined by tastless people portuguese or foreigners.
Looks amazing. We are also in north PT and renovating a ruin. Currently building a water tank. What’s the white liquid you added to the concrete? I guess it’s to water proof it. Is it PVA wood glue?
Hi Paul, nice to hear that you are also doing a water tank project! The liquid is for making the cement waterproof, yes. You can google for example for "SIKACIM HIDRÓFUGO PARA BETÃO" but there are also many other brands
Is this a double-faced wall? Or was there a single stack of stone? Why repoint? Were there problems with the structure of the original dry stone, or it's just to be safe? What a beautiful old structure that's certainly worth preserving.
Hi BookOfNick, Yes it is a double faced wall, here they call it a "wall of two brothers". No the dry stone would probably be stable however a lot of ants and mice live in there so we wanted to keep them out. Also when opening the windows it was necessary to stabilize the wall first.
Im sorry, but what a waste of time. Poly tank.. $1500. 1 hour to install anywhere on earth.
So is this just for recreation, a self-filling swimming pool? I've never heard of a granite tank before. Tremendous workmanship but can someone tell me its purpose?
Roman dodecahedron is it a filter from a stone water tank that sits at the bottom where the water exits? people dislodged the dodecahedron over the years to play with, old stone tanks became funerary. Recycled
I don’t understand what the purpose of the tank is when you have a river right there?
looks good but do people going to use it ??? what its use??
Now where the hydraulic electric plant? Up stream lol awesome work
Mancano i sottotitoli , buon lavoro
Here in the States, it’s assumed that the delivery driver is responsible for the safe unloading of any product unless advised beforehand. In this case, the driver would be responsible for the broken pieces, and i would have rejected the delivery of the broken pieces. There is the option for purchasers to unload themselves, but that is clear at the time of purchase. What a shame to see the broken pieces which likely were VERY EXPENSIVE already.
Yes no way I'd pay for that delivery
In Portugal it is more difficult to get a refund from a driver. They usually dont have an insurance or anything... But you are right that would be fair.
Нічим не обгрунтовані труди.
I hope to see a new video soon. Love what u do 🎉
Go on, give us a clue. Where is this? Looks a lot like Portugal, but could equally be Italy. Or even somewhere else...
Amazing!!! You make it look so easy. It turned out beautiful.
Outstanding!
You’re killing your self .Get a machine please.
Amazing - congratulations guys.
i will def. try this at home, since i have - by coincidence- a one meter thick old stone wall in my garden, which needs an opening
Now I know how the pyramids were built😅! Great job, nice to see your progress😉
Is this house in a rainforest?
"Don't try this at home" - How many of us have old stone cottages to not try it in?
really impressive masonry work! great job
Great project!
👍👍
Super travail !
.....in quale paese vivete?🙄
Nice Dude, I still have your Surfboard :D
Thanks Dude and I have your number, will text you :D
Roman dodecahedron @ 13:52
What region does the granite come from in Portugal and who supplies such large cuts? Compliments for your work
Thanks ATold, Our granite came from the region 4575-006 Alpendorada. If you search this region in google maps, you should see many small and large companies really close to each other, you can contact some of these to get an offer.
@@vale.do.salgueiro Many thanks for your answer. A few years ago I already bought in Alpendorada. I was just wondering, if it could be this region. Thanks and compliments for your work!
Amazing craftmanship in the stonework. It's a pity that walls need pointing 😉 I look forward to the process AND the result. Hard work, it is. I love the river in the background.
Travail de titan Félicitations
WOW, how incredible you are!
Please explain more about this ruin. What is approximate age? Was it a farmhouse? A mill? Also, tell about the location.
Bro, that cement is not enough to hold the weight of the full tank. Even in ur previous video u had hold just with adhesive. its giving me chilzz
Yep you are right, that is why we also used some metal rods to join the stones in the other video. They are a bit hard to see, but good point to remember for anyone who wants to build something similar.
I'm going to try this at my neighbor's home.
:D hope you are talking about yenga ...
so very very beautiful
Great video. Wonderfull place. Looking forward to follow your progress. BUT I really hope not every 5 minutes to be patronized by the text Do not do this at home!
Thanks for your comment, exaggerated a bit on that as we see from your comments. Didn't know you were so sensitive regarding this text. You can read it as a marker for the parts where serious risks are involved (death, injury).
