You know, the winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition this year, Tae-han Kim?
He CAN really sing, and his voice is just...needless to say... divine (He's the winner of the QE....!!)
I have watched several video clips on his channel.
I was really into his clip on which he sings this song "Snow".
Listening to the song over and over, I found the song itself actually very beautiful :)
The song and lyrics of "Snow" were composed/ written by Hyo-gun Kim in 1981. He composed it for a composition competition (the 1st MBC University Art Song Competition) and won the first prize. At that time, he was a third year student at the Seoul National University, majoring in econimics, and now he is the dean of the faculty of business administration at the Ewha Womans University. ???... Many people say that clever people are also good at music. You know it, I know it and everybody knows it.... but, life is unfair. Hahahahaha...
The song is in school textbooks and many Korean classical singers would love to sing it. And I don't understand at all how I found out this beautiful song this late. :(
Anyway, following the stream of my consciousness, I covered this song as a solo piano version.

이번에 퀸 엘리자베스 콩쿨에서 우승하신 바리톤 김태한님을 아시나요?
아니 진짜 목소리도 너무 좋으시고 노래를 너무 잘 부르시는 거 있죠!

이 분이 이 아름다운 가곡을 부르시는 영상이 있는데
계속 듣다보니까 노래 자체도 너무 좋은거에요.
이 곡은 작곡가 김효근님이 1981년 직접 작사, 작곡하여 MBC 대학가곡제 제 1회에서 무려 대상을 수상한 유명한 곡이라고 합니다. 당시 김효근님은 서울대학교 경제학과 3학년에 재학 중이었다고.... 게다가 지금은 이화여대 경영대학 학장.... 머리 좋은 사람이 음악도 잘 한다지만 ...
새삼 불공평한 세상이 더욱더 불공평하게 느껴지는군요 하핫.
김효근 작곡가님의 '눈'은 교과서에도 실리고 성악전공자분들이 아주 많이 부르는 곡이라고 하네요. 그런데 저는 왜 이제서야 알았을까요. 좋은 걸 늦게 알아버려 슬프네요. (김효근 작곡가님의 대표곡에는 세월호 추모곡으로 주목받았던 '내 영혼 바람되어'도 있습니다.)
저는 이러한 저의 의식의 흐름에 따라 이 곡을 피아노 솔로곡으로 커버 해 보았습니다.
