I did not get it in my video, but I was successful in finding PCT HIKERS and handing out some trail magic. See the full story on my blog davespcthike.blogspot.com
Looking forward to hiking that trail!
Love that you acknowledge God as the creator!
So helpful. Thank you.
Where is this at, what State?
Northern California in the Sierras off Highway 50 West of Echo Lake
Going to this section next week, thanks for the intel
Where in relation to the destroyed bridge did you cross? Upstream/downstream? How far up or downstream were you when you found that nice calm crossing? Thanks in advance sir! Happy trails.
Downstream about a quarter mile. You walk through the campsite the construction crew was using at the bridge and there is a rock scree you climb up and over and will drop down to the river. just passed it.
Hey! Do you remember what the date was when you crossed here? We should be there around July 15th this year.
It was August 31. I have a blog with daily entries for my entire hike feel free to check it out davespcthike.blogspot.com
@@davedurham5321 Thank you so much! We just checked out your blog, and your pictures are beautiful. We would have totally gotten up early and crossed with you!
Me and a friend will be there in July this year some days before you and currently checking things
@@MarkSins Me too. Starting in Yosemite on July 1st which puts us in this area around July 9th... Not sure what to do.
@@colbypark1311 but I think at that time a lot of PCT hikers should have gone through already, hoping that some of them may try to go through the river and post it here on UA-cam
I got a permit cottonwood pass to happy isles starting Sept 1. I have no idea how the snow will go this year but you crossed in a high year in Sept it looks like. How far from the bridge were you and up or down stream? Thanks for the videos.
The crossing was about a quarter mile downstream from the bridge. I had originally planned to do the bypass which adds few hours and lots of elevation, scrambling, but after talking hikers safe doing the crossing. Everybody has their own opinion, none of that matters you have to evaluate your comfort level based upon your experiences.
Thanks for the reply. Some of the alternative routes that are recommended are not very desirable to me. But we will see. Happy adventures!
Seems to be the same spot somebody talked about on reddit and marked it with a picture and geo data
What time of year? Thanks for the video buddy!
That was on September 8. I did a blog with dailey entries it has more pictures and descriptions You’re welcome to check it out. Davespcthike.blogspot.com
This was at low water. The JMT should be closed until this bridge is replaced.
Terrible statement! No need to close something just because a bridge is out. Agreed that is a dangerous river, that's why there are alt routes available.
Beautiful Day!
Beautiful man v
These blokes don't know how or are simply not using their axes correctly. If they just imagined what a slip/fall would look like while traversing they'd change their habits to reduce the hazards.
Thank you ! is breathing not too difficult at this elevation ?
You definitely do get a little more exerted, both with the elevation and the snow, but overtime you will adapt as well
ok thanks@@davedurham5321
2:16 That's a hiking pace of someone that wants to get this trip over with. :)
Yes! You made it. Kinda weird that this is the end of one of the most famous trails in the US and it looks a messy vacant lot after they hauled off all the junker cars and hoarder trash. Anyway, are you planning to do like a 40+ minute video summary of the whole trip? Would be nice to see that.
Congrats, but I was expecting a more substantial video of this MAJOR accomplishment.
I think it's pronounced Met-how.
Congratulations Dave! I admire your fortitude.
Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your journey!
Beautiful
The end is in reach.
I was just in Stehekin a couple of weeks ago. Lots of hikers and beautiful place to stay.
Thanks!! Gorgeous scenery!
Are you going to go through to Stehekin or a different way?
Your beard is getting long!
Congrats!
I think that I would have tried to cross on the rail. Maybe by sitting on it or straddling it.
I actually considered it however, if you fall off, the result will be unforgiving
Any word on a new bridge being installed this spring/summer? Seems like the rangers will work to find a safe crossing for the masses.
Hey man, Rev. Paul, Eustis Fl. I noticed quite a bit of quartz’s in the larger rocks you went by. Maybe worth your while to check for gold in these creeks, just sayin…….
just found your channel, subscribed. you're in my territory. you also are living my dream.
Wasn't actually 'destroyed', there was some damage to some wood in one end of the support structure, now further north a bridge was actually destroyed, they blew it up a little exile back, a walk around/detour is required.
This looks simply and honestly amazing my friend, shots are brilliant here!
Tx for the video but I have to admit, I'm confused. You're SOBO - right? Should the water be going the other direction? You started from the North side of the river and crossed to the south. no??? Should the water be going left to right. Like I said, I'm confused.
Sometimes cell phones reverse images. Usually when doing selfies.
@@ericjanson8934 of course. Why didn't I think of that. Tx!
Nope I have been northbound from the beginning. I returned to Kearsarge Pass picking up the Sierra section I flipped over. When I reach Echo Summit, I will have a completed everything from the border to Snoqualmie pass and return there to complete the last 260 to the border.
Oh my gah fuxx just get your buttock across whiner no one cares Bec9me comfortable with the uncomfortable
Good thing the water was low . If it were much higher , that white water could of broke over the pebble bar you crossed on , and would of made it a bit more of a puckerup moment . Glad you made it safely , as even a fall in shallow water can take alot more time to dry off , which delays you in getting to your overnight camp . ": Keep on Truckin Bro ".
When I crossed the bridge in mid August I thought there was no way the water would ever get low enough this year.
@@ericjanson8934 - Appears that God is watching over you .. Also , because you have invested 168 days into your journey , I doubt anything will stop you from accomplishing your goal .
Looks amazing. What a beautiful part of the world to live in.
Fishing looks good
Very cool brother, living vicariously through you. Thanks for sharing your amazing hike and adventure
Didn't know that there was a Quincy, California. I thought you were talking about Quincy, WA!
Can't wait for you to step your toe into Canada. Keep going!
Gorgeous country.
As a East Coast hiker that trail looks so smooth. Just beautiful. Enjoy
Nicely done 👍
Really enjoying your vidoes Dave. We have subscribed in support! We know how hard it can be to produce good content and get your UA-cam off the ground. We're a small channel too and going through it ourselves. So really wanted to show our support. Keep up the good work! Wish you success
Much appreciated!
@@davedurham5321 You're welcome pal. It can be very tough to become successful on UA-cam. We’ve struggled to get our subs up. So we make sure we share some love and show our support when we see someone who's worked hard on their channel. Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing more.
super cool !!
Looking down through the bridge is unnerving. Also holding your phone with one hand over the railing is scary. 1:46 Would be bad if a gust of wind took it away.
That was awesome, thanks . be safe!
Gorgeous!
Amen Keep on hiking bro
