Driving me SANE
Australia
Приєднався 28 кві 2015
This channel is focused on my project cars and sim racing. Prior to COVID lockdowns, I bought a project car for my mental health, soon after buying it I discovered my love for driving again which lead me to joining track days with other drivers and friends.
During the COVID lockdowns I bought a racing simulator and began racing people all over the world.
This was not as therapeutic as driving on the track although something I could also do with my friends/team.
We created a team and I was able to learn how to do the liveries on the cars along with picking up a couple of 'sponsors'. Basically a couple of friends businesses who allowed us to plaster their logos on our cars.
I live with a mental illness and struggle with the demons daily. Track days and preparation of the car beforehand really help me shift focus away from the illness.
Learning from the instructors has given me a new sense of worth and the freedom of the track is something very special to me.

Z4 update for Sandown on Dec 6th
Dropped my z4 into my mechanic to get a check up and it turned out to be a $1200 visit.
This is what is costs to keep your car, especially a car you take on spirited drives or track days on the road safely.
Special thanks to Xceed and speedy tyre and auto.

Kindred and the battle of the bike path
Переглядів 125 місяців тому
I was a tenant at Kindred studios and my office looked over the beautiful park but now the tunnel project has built an eye sore of a bike path that blocks the view and since it's construction, has blocked roads and parking for Kindred, the businesses operating there, and their customers and clients. This has resulted in me leaving and I've heard of some businesses going under as a direct result...
BMW F25 X3 won't restart after a long drive - fault codes
Переглядів 15811 місяців тому
Since purchasing this car 2 weeks ago, I've had 7 occasions when it won't restart after a long drive. No overheating warnings from the engine however the code 480AB5 indicates the transfer case is overheating (old fluid isn’t up to the task anymore, & its’ time for a fluid change). I've replaced the fluid but still having the same issue.

Today, my good friend, Lucas Coulson drove the Z4 around Sandown in Melbourne as part of the Evolve driving event. Lucas was coached by Chelsea Angelo during the day. He enjoyed it so much, he wants to come back. Warning: track days are addictive

Good lap mate
Can you please explain the seatbelt guide replacement part, thank you very much!
The top screw on my seatbelt guide had broken off so I ordered a new guide for about $80 aud, however in order to access the bottom screw of the guide, you need to 1. remove the seat. 2. remove the headrest, the headrest guides (quite tricky). 3. remove the leather cover from the bottom and then you'll get access to the screw. From there, it's a simple case of reversing the process. Hope this helps.

epic car.
It’s amazing to drive. Blipping the throttle on downshifts. Can’t wait for Thursday night.
looks like fun
Sure is. Can’t wait to film it up in the hills.
My 330ci tramlines like a bitch… Two garages have taken a look and can’t find anything wrong mechanically, tie rods arms etc all ok. It’s had new tyres and four wheel alignment but hasn’t sorted it, any ideas? Cheers
What size of rims do you have? What tyres? I have the same problem. My steering moves a lot over small bumps
Write vague steering into UA-cam, people have put videos of a hack with your steering column, however yesterday I turned my dsc off .......steering is totally different, don't know whether there is a fault with the sensor nothing flashes up, worth a try
Cheers will keep doing my research, mine is a 330ci clubsport with the original split rims, all new falken tyres which have definitely made an improvement but still tramlines due to them being quite low profile.. Have a slight rattle behind steering wheel on bumpy roads so my guess is steering rack 🤷🏻♀️
That weather mix sounds like something we would have here in Halifax NS Canada, we have a saying here, if you don’t like the weather here, wait a minute and it will change lol
YOU PROBABLY FOUND THAT THE LEATHER CANNOT BE SOFTENED ENOUGH TO REMOVE WITHOUT CRACKING OR RIPPING. YOU PROBABLY WENT TO NEW SEATS.

CVT on manual?! Wtf?!
So what was the best time?
Got an issue with the sounds for my Cortina versions (got 3). What sounds have you got on yours? Thanks
Hi, did you manage to make a part two of this?
Unfortunately I didn't. Sold the car soon after this video.
Let me know if there's something you need and I'll see if I can help you out
@@drivingmesane2023hello sir, i have a problem adjusting the back of my seat, so when i pull the leverage nothing happens. What would your suggestion to fix that? Thanks
Wow, incredible
Nice video ! As a motogp fan phillip island is my favourite circuit on the calendar! So spectacular! Did you try the different modes ? What is your favourite ? I mostly have sport mode on, but the traction button scares me 😅 haven’t tried it out yet …
sounds lovely in the cabin ! did you remove all the foam or just one part ?
Thanks mate. I removed both pieces of foam. On the track when you can wind it out in every gear, it's super loud and sounds amazing while being super quiet outside.
@@drivingmesane2023 thanks for the response ! =) are you using standard gear knob ? I see many put a ZHP on instead .... do you think it's worth it ?
@@lukecustance4338 Apparently I am using the ZHP. Must've been put on by the previous owner. Feels good to me.
may I ask where you obtained the outside rubber that runs along the top of the windscreen?????/, is that just a standard Bmw part??? Thanks
Hey Mate. I bought it from Pelican parts. www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/51317017021.htm?pn=51-31-7-017-021-M9&SVSVSI=0668&DID=10757
I did not get it; first you show a speaker out already and you don’t tell us where it came from, the n you cut to another speaker where you reglue the foam; what happened to the first one.? Where did you get the foam for the second one? What kind of glue did you use ? Too confusing, thumbs down for me
This is great, who’s the instructor? I’ve just built a GT Forester for a hill climb / track car.
Anthony (Cookie) Cooke. Nice, a hill climb car. This Forester has done over 400,000kms. remarkable.
I’m just looking for a 3.0litre z4 to use on fast road and trackdays
Nice. They're an absolute blast especially the manual ones. Good luck.
@@drivingmesane2023 cheers dude
I have a 2000 bmw z3 2.5, will this oil work on mines aswell
ah I had to read the comments...didn't get the video at all...massive jump from 0:59 to taking out the sub woofer....I get from this you bought a foam kit to replace the broken ones...assume you can get a foam kit for the others or is this just for the sub?.. cheers
Yeah you can get surrounds on eBay
@@pianopotato excellent, all my speakers have blown cones so this seems a cheaper option than buying 6 new speakers ! thanks
So excited that you’ve got that sorted. I’ve just thrown coilovers on my wagon and the difference is night and day. So much goodness.
Ha. My wife turns off the auto lights on her own car all the time. Can’t understand why.
switching from Gran Turismo to iRacing is worth it for the noise alone.
Yeah it's pretty impressive. I love the rules, fights, scrapes but I hate the idiots who punt you off deliberately. Overall an amazing simulator. You should jump in and join Matt and I
What's it like going on a racetrack with a CVT? lol
And the problem is?
@@GaryKari nothing. I was just asking
I have to say, CVTs have of late been shedding their dodgy past and proving themselves to be reliable speed elements in various machines. I think the Levorg is coupled with a launch gear now (?) so that increases the efficiency of the machine in total.
Shedding a dodgy past. Ha. Cheap low cost make bucks move from manufacturers on a tight budget. Mug punters pays again & again. Sounds like? Thai opera singer with rusted BBQ stuck up somewhere. Crap subi flat 4 streaming lungs out. Go EV or build decent turbo. Can't stay away from engine development forever. Unless fanboyz or old dudes keep buying 'um.
Top Tips! Thanks for the vid.....I could see he was regularly reacting too late to each corner...great vid beautiful perfect that’s it perfect you’re right....etc
I still do that even after being on the track more times than Nathan. Super fun though
I bought one of these after seeing your video. Last week ‘someone’ in my house dropped a marquee onto the bonnet of my car. Now revisit this for tips... 🍻
Oh no not the Audi B4?
Don't use cleaner spray on the MAF. Bad idea.
Hey Tony, So don't use a MAF sensor cleaner on a MAF sensor?
Have you replaced that sound generator sponge yet? Bet you soon get fed up of the noise, the novelty soon wears thin. Mine didn't last a day. I made a much better noise with a RamAir induction kit.
Hey Tony, I still love the sound inside the cabin, especially on the track. No plan on replacing the sponges. It's all subjective. My preference is a loud cabin and a quiet exhaust. I'll look into the RamAir induction kit. Where did you get yours from?
@@drivingmesane2023 I bought it from eBay on Black Friday 3 years ago Aaron. I posted a video on UA-cam titled Induction. See if you can find it mate.
@@drivingmesane2023 It's on my channel from 4 years ago.
Thanks bro
Got a similar pulling kit but have not had courage to try it out, but after watching your experience, just might give it a go now. thanks
It's actually not bad at all. The only challenge I faced was trying to get the tiny dents out. I'm finding more dents on the car now so will jump in when I have spare time. Enjoy
Ha ha same for me too! Had the kit a Year but I will try it out. Thanks.
Great breakdown. So much detail.
It was a light bulb moment. So many learnings
Sweet!! I just need to tighten the screws that hold it to the door, glad to see you can access the screws without breaking the mirror. I’ll be spraying it with WD-40 while I’m in there. Thanks!!!
Awesome Video! I am now a new subscriber to your channel..
Thanks Jono. More to come, including a troubleshooting video today. 👍
Did you lose a wheel?
It's not that realistic. lol
this video is confusing .what happened to the first speaker that was being prepped at the start of the video?? you just prep a speaker and then jump to another and re-install. Im lost.
Apologies, Yes it's confusing. whoops. The second speaker is part of the Sub. It's a strange setup. the sub by memory has a main powered speaker and a second unpowered speaker frame. I replaced both foams to be sure they were both perfect. hope this helps.
I Did the exactly the same thing, but the mirror still does'nt move
you can buy a replacement swivel mechanism if it's completely siezed...trouble is it's about £100!... so persevere with your one unless it's snapped the spring
Where did you get the sub foam? What size?

No condom wrappers under the seat? Is it really a bmw?
Oh you're too funny. Thankfully no. I have to come up with some VW beetle jokes now or Subaru Brumby ones
