This blank VHS tape was in a stack of tapes that I was digitizing for my sister, who used to own and operate a video rental store in the early 2000s.
There is no label on the tape, so I had no idea what it was, til I saw this and it scared the crud out of me.
I assume it's a promotional tape for The Ring from when she owned the store, but I don't know how to verify that.
I ran the capture beyond what I thought was the end of the tape, and was surprised to hear regular sounds!!!! So after the 4:00 mark, I raised the volume so that regular intermittent sounds can be heard. I do not know if this is intentional in the original creation of the tape, or if it is some sort of accident, like they recorded over old tapes to save money or something???
For the capture, I used a JVC HR-S9500U svideo out to a Dazzle capture card in VDub. Then deinterlaced (top field first) and scaled to 1440x1080 in Premiere.
