I set out to ride Texada Island on my Tenere 700 without a lot of expectations. I’ve boated past the island for years and never thought much of it. Come along for the ride and tell me if you think it is an adventure motorcycle paradise.

There was a sign post just before we crossed Churn creek that I think said Gang Ranch but that was 25 years ago and the road didn't look passable then. I had forgotten how horrendous those hills were and I was driving a leased 96 F150 single cab 4x4. Drove up there about 1998 with bro in law , parked just past the Elaho Giant tree ( it was pre fire so was still standing ) then back packed over to Meager Creek Hot Springs and back - there was a slashed trail - spent 3 days -2 there and 2 back a bit of scrambling but was very doable back then.

Wow. I have noted how close the top of the Elaho and Meager Creek valley are, but I wouldn't want to hike it!

Used to go to Meager Creek Hot Springs a lot from the 1970's until the last big slide. Too bad because the pool and change house had been upgraded , and used to be so nice to camp and sit in the pool by the river. The Prov. campsite was good too except it was built on volcanic ash and the dust got into everything , and you could no longer rough camp near the pools. The bridge where you stopped to film the Falls leads to a spot where they open mined the volcanic ash ( sand / dust used as an abrasive in toothpaste , soaps, sandpaper, etc.). There are several hot springs - some roughly developed - along Meager Creek down from the Falls . The one trail you found leads to the best ones.

Interesting info. I will have to go back and follow the trail to Keyhole Hot Springs. A friends tells me you can get into Meager Creek Hot Springs , but you have to hike in about 7k from a gate. The 1st nations have asked people not to go in there.

Really nice footage and commentary. Thanks for doing this. I was thinking that if you wanted to monitize your site with You... that hooking up with TMA could be an advantage. I'm not involved with TMA other than watching their vids. Dirt Chimps. 👍👍

Thanks. I've ridden on one of the Dirt Chimps rallies which was wild! Got a few more subscribers to go before I could monetize and really just do it for fun. Good to get the feedback.

Last I was up there a month or so ago, still gated on IR. Got caught in a torrential coming down MQ and that sucked all the view away, too. I'll try again.

I was impressed watching an OTR trucker pulling a lowboy up the FSR, for some reason. Bold strategy in some parts of HE. Didn't know how far up he was going.

Last I went up HE a month ago, I trailered the bike behind my Mustang up to Hick's Lake road, park, unload and head in. The ride out to Harrison is nice yes but, I've done it a million times and I got limited physical endurance. Wanted to save myself up for the FSR.
