Hi, I'm thinking about working in Thailand, where you live. However, I have a question about the political stability of the country and whether it affects daily life. Could you tell me if it poses any problems or if life goes on normally? Thanks in advance!

    • @DocEnglish-s2k

From my experience, daily life in Thailand is peaceful. I've never seen protests, and politics isn't openly discussed. While political events happen occasionally, they rarely affect everyday life, and things run smoothly for locals and expats. It's worth noting that Western media often portrays faraway places inaccurately. In reality, Thailand feels more stable than the US or some European countries at the moment.

@@DocEnglish-s2k I have read many news articles about political issues in Thailand, such as police violence and citizen repression, which worries me. I was wondering if this situation affects daily life and if that pressure is truly felt day-to-day, or if it depends on the individual. I wanted to know if there is a heavy atmosphere and if chaos is present, and how this affects the quality of life.

A few things that Doc English neglected to mention....Note: I speak from experience of living in Bangkok for 20+ years and having taught at language schools, Public schools and Universities for over 10 of those years! 1. If you do NOT have a University Degree -> Forget about finding work at a decent hourly rate in Thailand. Get your degree, as in a BA or BS (4 years) from a properly accredited University. If NO Degree you will be last in line to be considered and will be stuck with the lowest paying work. Maybe stuck out in the Isaan country side in a village school. 2. Get a TEFL certificate (120 hrs) IN Thailand before applying for work -> companies seeking ELT instructors often reach out to TEFL schools seeking teachers. Easy recruiting and finding a job. 3. Sadly post covid with the Thailand economy in bad shape, it is very difficult to find work....But the best place to look is here: www.ajarn.com The # 1 website for finding teaching jobs and for schools to advertise openings! Let me know if you have any questions and good luck! Chok dee krap!

I don’t think it’s necessary since I never needed to, but it’s still a good idea. I’ve heard of cases where fake degrees were used, so having an official apostille adds credibility and can help avoid potential problems.

"Thailand is safe. Even safer than the United States where I'm from" Meanwhile in the US: 72 died over the weekend in Chicago, Asians are being violently attacked in New York, Black kids are looting stores in California, 58 people died of gunshot in Michigan. USA is hardly the standard when it comes to safety.

Hi! Thank you so much for the video! :) I have a question that I think you might be able to help with. Do you think I can find a job as an English teacher in Bangkok, considering that I am a non-native speaker with no experience so far? I have a four-year bachelor’s degree in Law, and I plan to take the IELTS and a TEFL course by the end of this year. I’m planning to go to Thailand in March to look for a job, but I’m not sure if this idea is too risky. Thank you very much in advance!

Hi! Thanks for your question and for watching the video! 😊 Yes, you can find a job as an English teacher in Bangkok even if you’re not a native speaker and have no experience. Many schools hire non-native speakers, especially if you have good English skills and the right qualifications. Check out this guide I made that might help: ua-cam.com/video/GFbnzjWSbtI/v-deo.htmlsi=A_s-2jHPliW7H5RN Good luck with your plans!

Thanks for your comment! You’re right-“you no eat” is a common mistake. Many languages, including Thai, don’t use auxiliary verbs like “do” and “did,” which can make this tricky for learners. This is a common issue for many people, not just Thai speakers.

Thanks for your comment! You’re right-short forms like “Coming? What time?” are common in texting but can lead to errors in formal English. Many learners face this issue because they might transfer texting habits into everyday speech. Using full sentences like “What time are you coming?” can help make communication clearer.
