Gargoyles were originally roof gutters. They were designed as monsters to "ward off spirits", and influenced by the Gothic era (12th century). Over time the meaning of Gargoyles just changed completely. So them turning into manhole covers totally makes sense. F*kin clever for the author to do that 😁

This was a fun episode with some heavier moments. It was one of my favorites. About Chilchuck's age: he said he was 29, which in itself isn't old. However, the half-foot lifespan is only about 50 years, so he's just over middle-aged.
