Benson's Stormy Weather guitar solo

Responding to my buddy challenge (was it?) ua-cam.com/video/L2LizZlXZYY/v-deo.html Benson's Stormy Weather solo guitar. It might take much more confinement for me to reach record tempo, but here it is, at a slightly sleepier pace. Transcription ua-cam.com/channels/vZytyAuPmu0ikOaQXJBk_g.html
FENDER Stratocaster vs Telecaster
Переглядів 101 тис.14 років тому
Probably the first strat and tele comparison ever ... The Strat is an american series (2003?) with kinman woodstock plus. The Tele is a japanese 91. It has handmade pickups from SPcustom. There is a huge volume gap between the 2 guitars, but I didn't want to change the settings. Unfortunately I think we hear more acoustic tele than amplified tele !!
I love the lonestar… it’s such a great amp 👍👍👍
Thank you for the extensive comparison, man! I'm staying with the classic. The other bites a bit too much, not as versatile or as balanced.
Gotta agree in this instance. Wanting to replace the blacktops in my Chinese Gretsch (which actually sound decent) to get a more traditional Filtertron thing going on. I play stuff on the crunchy and harder side and thought the plus would be the way to go but I preferred the balance in the regular classic. I am interested in the Setzer though, which seems to be rated inbetween the classic and the plus.
6:28 riffing is kicking some ass
I was trying to do this ua-cam.com/video/CvcS3PTtpcs/v-deo.htmlsi=LzpP5W0Idy4cEldn
Holy Jeff Buckley! Great opening song choice.
Thanks for doing this! Just curious, which did you decide to keep in your bridge?
I kept the Classic+, it won for being more balanced with the neck and seriously mean with gain :)
No problem. That’s informative for myself too :)
Thank you for making this :-)
Top... Super boulot. Il est où le gant d'eau froide ?
Rachid Manou Merci, et encore je suis loin du tempo !
@@larsenpeople C'est déjà super je trouve. Tu as déjà le phrasé. La vitesse, c'est secondaire mais ça, tu le sais déjà. En tout cas accroche toi, c'est un super solo et avec Nils, super pédagogue, tu es entre de bonnes mains. Enjoy & Practice...
Rachid Manou 🙏
strat def wins here
The best video for demonstration. Stratocast still my favor.
Very good demo thanks. Owning and loving both here's my 2 cents. Overall I prefer a strat BUT nothing in the world sounds as good as a good tele in the middle position.
Have you tried to wire a strat like a telecaster : bridge and neck together ? I have a strat wired that way and it gives a pretty nice tele vibe !
jeremie chastel I did that a few years ago but had to give up the neck mid combo as I just moved a wire and didn't add a switch. Presently I have a Nashville deluxe tele that has the strat in the middle (cool) but It's not wired to give me bridge and neck so I might work on that.
strat wins
Noup
Depends really on what you like. Strats have a more stronger and richer sound whereas Teles have a really chunky, twangy sound. All depends
It really depends on the pups and whammy bar
what kinda scales are those
Sorry I should've clarified. Im sure she's a champ either way
jeez, tester needs to check his timing, every other note is a bit garbled or out of riddim and rushed. - when office managers play home guitar, lol.
Tele is better frist 2 led zep albums page used his tele
Strat all the way!!!
Me gusto mas la telecaster
Wow thanks, this was exactly what i was looking for :D
Everyone knows the Telecaster was developed by Coppers because it sounds like it's being used on the theme of Law and Order. Listen carefully...
Omg you are such an idiot that you don't even get the point.
A master in music composition? Yes, I guess that's why you are soooo famous....lol.
What you call you opinion was a sarcasm which adds no value to this gear test. This is not a place for arrogance and attempts to personal attack, I'm stepping out of this pointless arguing.
You learned wrong, the Tele sounds way better, good woods and amazing pickups. These guitars aren't from the same factory but I tried to help with a detailed video with guitars I own and by answering any questions. I also checked your profile. Besides posting girls slideshows and bitter comments on other people's vids, you don't do much. You don't get to tell me what to do.
Thanks :)
Since strats and teles come in a million models and reissues you will find one that you like by hanging out in stores. It's trickier to shop online... Also remember that although Hendrix is famous for his strats, he started playing on a Danelectro and was extensively using a Gibson flyingV at the end. I guess his vibe was always there.
What do you mean ?
The strat is green and the tele is black
which one is which?
I have huge doubts on buying a tele or strato, keith richards me makes me want a tele, jimi hendrix and john frusciante makes me want a strat, but anyway, your tele is a japanese handmade, is kinda unfair for the strat isn't it? Anyway, i feel in love for your tele, thanks for the video!
I guess my english is getting rusty. I mean that I'm comparing guitars, not pickups. When I switched pu on any of my guitars, the main upgrade was definition and clarity (which we can't really hear on the video). The "colour" remains the same, which I believe is due to the woods and the built.
What are you talking about?
Thanks ! I have lots of comments about pickups. I just don't think it matters. Pickup can bend sound a little but eventually, a bad guitar won't sound any good with high end pickups, and a good guitar already sounds good before plugging. For example, this video shows a bad strat that I believed I could enhance with Kinmans years ago. I was wrong :) On the other hand, I bought that Tele without trying it on an amp, I just knew !
A stock pickup isn't "normal", it is often the cost saving option taken by the manufacturer. To me, good pickups don't have too much influence on the guitar sound, it just let the woods sing.
I think it was called "Teal Green Metallic" or something similar. The poor camera rendition makes it a little bluer than what it is.
Awesome comment
stupid confront
What is the name of that color blue on the Strat? It's lovely! ;)
Andy Timmons , kind of ha
This is a good video :) But I don't think you can compare a Japanese Telecaster to an American Stratocaster properly. I see in another comment you swapped the pups out? If it was to American pups? The pickups are vastly superior in an American guitar (the higher end ones like the American Series you're playing). The quality all around is a different story ,but that it something else completely different. Once again great video though you play nice :D
Strat just sounds like it has hotter pick ups. I like the Tele twang but not enough output, stick some Seymour Duncans in it and let it sing :)
How can you "compare" two guitars without using stock pick ups? That's like comparing a two cars with built engines.
When to use bridge. Neck pick up
I really should have taken the time and effort to read the description that you provided concerning the addition of the Kinman Woodstock Plus Strat pick-ups. This explains a lot because I have found that the stock single coils on a Strat are less powerful in the bridge position than a stock Tele's bridge position pick-up.I have also found that the Strat has a slightly louder neck pick-up than a Tele possesses .Both models are timeless classics.Keep the videos coming !
You know...to each his own :)
Hi, I kept the exact same settings for the two guitars. Despite the lousy recording, you can hear a volume drop with the Tele. The pickups aren't stock, in that case the strat is louder on any position.
Two nice looking guitars .Did you adjust the volume of the amp in order to make the Tele neck pick-up compete volume wise with the Strat's neck pick-up ?And did you likewise do the same process to allow the bridge pick-up of the Strat to compete with the Tele's bridge pick-up in the volume department ?
nice comparison. they just are completely different. I've never really understood why people bother fattening up the strat pick up wise, you might as well buy something else in the first place - all guitars have a different vibe, and they're best kept that way. Individuality.
i prefer start but i like the sound and feel of maple necks so i couldn't choose between this
