Very informative. I do understand a bit more of the digital registration aspect. I get that we can still have the hard copy after they implement all digital, however i still would like for the hard copy to stay the negotiable note. I dont know what will come of those older breeders that dont have access to the digital world. I guess since our hands are tied that we just have to wait and see how this will affect those of us that dont like to do business online. I only hope that we dont see an influx of grade horses that by all rights should have their papers with them. Time will tell
@@ashleywilliams3813 Thank you for watching and for your comments!
Cute❤
@@TrulysPonyTraining thank you!!
I greatly enjoyed this far ranging conversation between two equine professionals, a collaboration of the female and male perspectives across the decades. The open horse shows of the 1980's and 1990's, where all breeds competed in various disciples for Western, English, Gymkhana, Hunter/Jumper and the most coveted of all, the High Point All Around, was where I competed, the girl from the outskirts of town with her grade horses. In 1995, I took a 4 year old filly and ventured as far as Fairbanks, Alaska, the first Canadian AQHA entry in the 25 years of that venue. They were awesome hosts, even playing the Canadian anthem for us. Thank you, Ryan and Lee, for a wonderful trip down memory lane and a look at current practices and trends in the equine industry.
Love your new channel, want to learn more about quarter horses.

@@juliemoorcroft8334 appreciate you watching!
so true Ryan... if you learn one thing .. have met you briefly at the Mossliegh grounds I think it was years ago and love and cherish my times i southern Alberta.. hoping to retire back there in the next few years or so... Congras on this wonderful show... So many greats from southern AB heh????? Hope to be at the expo as well and will drop by!!!!
A excellent and informative conversation. 'Selective breeding' today is becoming increasingly subjective. I am a bit 'long in the tooth' and the past practice was to breed the best to the best, based on soundness and performance. To raise an animal that would require ongoing maintenance from a young age was unthinkable. Support was reserved for the horse that had earned retirement. The QH remains a versatile breed, yet we do it a disservice if specialization erodes its conformation and working longevity. Emotion and/or profit are not the best criteria for improving the QH, in my opinion. Thank you for sharing the interview above.
Great comments, thank you!
Thank you Ryan and Dr. Burwash, so interesting and informative!

Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your time, experience and knowledge. I look forward to future episodes!!!
Thanks for watching!
Looking forward to these, and it’s nice to hear someone else saying what I’ve been for years also. Too much is being put on a set of papers/earnings. QH’s are quickly becoming no better than what happened in the color breeds focusing too much on color imo. In our program we focus on temperament & build very strongly above all else.
Absolutely!
Great job Mr. Fleetwood! Looking forward to your next episode! (:
More to come! Thank you Jill!!
