Moniaive celebrates its annual Gala

Lockerbie company MacRebur has been shortlisted for what's widely regarded as the world's most prestigious environmental prize, Earthshot, backed by Sir David Attenborough and the Prince of Wales. It's for their pioneering recycled plastic road surfacing.

People living in a village in Dumfries and Galloway have told ITV Border that nearby roads are so bad they're having to carry out monthly repairs on their cars. Another of the roads, in Waterbeck near Lockerbie, has been closed for four years, in need of major resurfacing.

He believes post Brexit deals, recruitment difficulties and rising energy costs have hit the industry hard. In response to the criticism, the UK government says it has boosted the number of visas for seasonal workers and increased financial support to farmers.
