Champion 338cc Chipper Shredder Review & Use
Переглядів 66 тис.4 роки тому
#DADCERTIFIED Witness the utter desolation of 3" and smaller fresh pine branches. This isn't your Grandpa's chipper. It's your dads chipper. Review and use of this fine piece of manufacturing. A beast of a small machine, with ridiculously tiny wheels.
Give thanks for what you take.

Take only what we need, give thanks for what we take. It is a great responsibility to kill, and a shepherds duty to do so only when necessary. In these decisions I must evaluate my actions with heart. Is there any justification to bring this majestic life down? Only if I can do good with it’s use. I must consider the amount of love I can put into the world using its wood. Only then is this taki...
Cub Cadet XT1 ELECTRIC Snow Plowing!

I put "baby tractor" to the test plowing 1/4 mile of steep gravel driveway at 4200' and 20F temps. See how she does! This is the only production model electric lawn/garden tractor available in the U.S. Regarding battery life for plowing, I could probably do the whole 1/4 mile drive 6-7 times before needing a recharge (4.5 hours) so plenty of battery for this application. It had a warranty claim due to electrical malfunction that took about 4 months due to parts shortages. After that it works great, but the cruise control is broken. Battery is still going strong with no performance loss that I can tell. Use it almost daily! Still consider it one of my better purchases.

    G'day! Wearing sandals when performing yard work is a bad idea! Increased chances of tripping over something, and you don’t want to put yourself at risk when working with tools and heavy machinery. Think about the damages a lawnmower, weed whacker or shovel can do to your feet and toes. Your toes aren’t any tougher than your hands, and most don’t think gloves, and loose clothing are a good idea, when operating machinery. By the way... I’ve Never understood someone, who will risk loosing digits permanently for the temporary comfort of cheesy footwear. Any shop work, yard work, auto work, house work requires proper footwear. Or not, it’s a very sad loss, when they bust the upper metacarpal bones in their feet. Lol! Cheers! :)

      I built two houses in sandals. Whatchagonnadoooo??

    • @JPilot2
      @JPilot2 3 місяці тому

      Wow! Safety Sandals!! Did you ever notice the blades on a hedge trimmer, don't come to an immediate stop, when you release the throttle? I'll bet the flip flops (sandals) are the perfect foot protection, when someone puts a hedge trimmer down on there foot. I could go through a long list of what goes wrong, and how bad it can get even with safety training, and equipment, and shudder at the thought of how bad it could be without it. Even if you have previously mowed it without incident, there are pitfalls. First, you may more easily slip, and your feet can go under your mower deck. If you have not released the dead man lever, you can get cut or mangled. Then, grass can hide broken glass, you risk getting cut. If there is a bottle on the lawn and the grass is over 3″ tall, you my actually break the bottle and send shards into your lawn. You will then get cut, if not extremely careful. If not immediately, then on subsequent mowings. Before I mow my lawn, I walk it looking for items that should not be there. I stopped going out anywhere without shoes, when I was about 20 years old, Not even slippers, fully enclosed shoes. Even the beach, I am generally reluctant to shed my shoes and go barefoot, but I do occasionally, and I look out for glass. I have gotten cut in the lake from sharp stone or glass, as it's hard to tell in the waves and swirling sand. So, I doubt a string trimmer, a lawn mower blade, edger blade, etc. can discriminate between tough feet, and not-so-tough feet. Lol!

    What is the model milling attachment you've got on the Ego? I've seen quite a few larger more flashy types of mills but I'm digging the minimal convenience. Definitely the move with this type of setup is to have as many batteries as you might afford but they're not cheap. The tech involved is essentially worry-less as the batteries are protected. With a few sharp chains and enough batteries, you could rip logs all day long. Just have to keep an eye on the oil.

  • @BenDiscoe
    @BenDiscoe 2 роки тому

    Cool test, and yes you are going w-a-a-a-y beyond that saw's capability with a log that size. Also that little milling rig, looks like one of the dozens of cheap Chinese Lumbermaker knockoffs on Amazon (which one is it?) FYI your Ego has around 2.8 HP, but there are battery saws now with 4 HP, and Greenworks even sells one at 4.56 HP and next year planning a 5.8 HP chainsaw so... soon these tests won't be silly at all.

    • @felixholloway

    sweet little saw. To be fair for the electronics, i mill a bit with an old stihl 088, i do 2-3ft diameter elm logs and stop for a cool down every 2 or 3 feet or cutting. cool down breaks are recommended for anything when milling anyway. Maybe i missed it in your video, did you test with different chain cutter types, skip chain, maybe sprockets are changeable to smaller?

      Cub Cadet recommends just keeping it plugged in any time you are not using it. Seems like each manufacturer has their own recommendations for lithium batteries. I do believe that charging Lithium to 80-90% ONLY increases the overall lifespan dramatically. Like 10 years to 15+ years.

    Nice chips! Long gloves and sticking your hand in the chute will not make good chips. As others have said, it does not take much to catch your gloves on a stick that suddenly self feeds as you are pushing it into the chute....For your cardboard, if you wet it before you apply the chips, it will flatten to the contours of the ground providing better coverage and your chips will spread more evenly. Be safe

What store did you go to to get it cheaper ? I was just wanting to shred my piles of sticks I pulled out from old landscaping. I tried breaking them up and putting them in yard bags but they would just get heavy and rip the bag poke out of the bag. Old tree branches. I tried looking at $200 stand up ones but people give bad ratings on those flimsy ones. I don’t have a job so whatever I spend I can’t replace.
