Good thought but that was out of the captain’s control, it was the departure vectors given to him by air traffic control who’s responsible for managing Southern California air traffic. We ended up taking a series of left turns and crossing the coast in the reverse direction over Seal Beach with a northeast heading bound for Britain. Thanks for watching!

      Technically yes, but the direction we taxied was on runway 6R (the rightmost of two runways with a heading of 60). 6R and 24L are the same strip of land and each code only differentiates the direction. In this case we taxied towards the city (6R) and took off out towards the Pacific ocean (24L). Thanks for watching!

    The B764 (B767-400) has raked wingtips just like the B77L (B777-200LR) and B77W (B777-300ER)

      @@Baz987 This is true. Not only are the wingtips on the 764 similar to 2 variants of the 777 family, but the cockpit is similar to the 777 family as well. So much so that the 764 requires a different type rating from all other 767 variants.

      Thanks for the feedback. Yes, this is an older video which I recorded vertically, so to upload it to UA-cam I had to crop a lot of it out. Going forward all videos will be recorded horizontally at 1.0 zoom and will therefore show the full runway, sky, and wing and/or engine view, depending on where I’m sitting. Hope this helps!

      It really does! Munich airport is beautiful, especially if you’re seated on the left for a Runway 8L departure or the right for a 26R departure 😉 This one was the former

    This seems like a very high angle of attack and very slow climb. Maybe I am imagining that.

      Not imagining, you are absolutely correct on both points. High angle of attack but low vertical speed means a relatively low airspeed on this climb-out. Massive bird with a heavy payload! Also the A340-600 is a very uniquely shaped plane with unique wing placement and center of gravity. This is likely how pilots are trained to climb on the A340-600, rather than dipping the nose to gain airspeed, but I can’t say for sure since I’ve only ever been on 1.

    My favorite part about the LH A346 is that economy lavatories are downstairs...! I've never actually been on a Lufthansa A340-600 - got to fly on them when Virgin Atlantic had them. I have flown the LH B744, B748 and A343 though, I'll have to make that right soon.

      No doubt man. A340-600 is a fantastic bird, my personal favorite of all time. I've been on all of the others you mentioned except the -300. Will have to get on one soon to experience the only CFM-56 engined widebody before Lufthansa retires them. How was the Virgin Atlantic -600, no downstairs lavatories?

      Definitely a derated takeoff. Hot summer day in Munich as well coupled with a heavy payload on a high demand route (MUC-ORD), all culminated in a slow climb

      Was a -600. All Lufthansa -300s are currently based in Frankfurt, their [handful of] -600s are based in Munich and Frankfurt with the majority operating out of Munich @@fr3088
