Nevele Pride sets world record that stands for 19 years. At the time this becomes the fastest race mile ever on a half mile track for trotter OR pacer.... source www.harnessracing.ws
One of the trully great trotters from the 60's, great stud.
If you haven't seen it look up the 1969 International Trot at Roosevelt, it's an amazing race.
THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIEND WE THOUGHT THEY WOULD NEVER END 😜

Definitely
What happened to Balmoral announcer Dominick Pulido . And Mike Antonides
Just one of the many champions Stanley Dancer presented ....long long list......I believe the parade started with Su Mac Lad
Don't know who he is but great announcer
George Miller. Our father started taking us kids to the Saratoga Harness track and flat track in 1951. I saw this race and could not believe how utterly game this horse was. And I still miss The Thief (Hal Story), a mythical figure to this day.
One of the greatest (and meanest) trotters ever...visited him in Kentucky...perimeter fence around his paddock to keep his admirers from being eaten. :D
yes i heard that story.. he was mean ;)
I will forever remember this date and the then world record of 1:56 4/5. I actually had an indirect hand in that happening. I was publicity director at the time and after talking with the weather bureau I was told there was an oncoming storm approaching. They agreed to go with the race a little early, and it's a good thing because it really began to storm. Sure miss those classic days when I was around the likes of Stanley Dancer and Herve Fillion and more. Great memories. Boy, how final trotting and pacing times have changed. Nobody could have envisioned such a thing back in 1969.
great track announcer
Bob that WAS Tupper? I always wondered.... TV Tournament Time used to be the best..
My sister horse grandpa!!!!! Omg so cool! Probably no one will belive me but its true!!!
Best rap song ever!
Wow, reminds me of Secretariat dominating in the Belmont.
I worked at The Nevele for over ten years. And I grew up with the Slutsky family. (Don't laugh, that's their real name.) They were the best. I'm just so sad how the hotel slowly rotted away. But I rode my first horse at The Nevele. Even tried to golf, to no avail. I still have Nevele Pride.
Slutsky Memorial raced at Monti in the 80s
Nevele Pride swalloved a human finger. No kidding...
He was perhaps the meanest stallion that ever lived. His rotten behavior was legendary. Grooms and handlers were literally terrified of him. Somehow he lived to be about 28 years old.
wow there's a piece of history! that was cool!
no george miller called then
56 miles aren't common for a trotter on a half!
NOT 50 YEARS AGO THEY WERENT
Yeah, he was pretty amazing, even now 56 and change is a pretty good mile on a half track. To think how heavy the bikes were back then.... With the bikes they have now he could have broken 1:50, I think. He was incredible
