Harrild Railroads
Denmark
This YT canal shows videos all about building and use of a model train layout in the garden. There will be themes about the planning, the work, different technical stuf and about driving on Harrild Railroads.
Along the way, garden rail enthusiasts will be visiting, just as Harrild Railroads will visit other courses and technical experts to listen to their experiences and be inspired.
The layout is located in a large garden on a hilltop way out in the countryside. The track width is 45 mm and running with rolling material in Scale G (1: 22.5 and around) and Scale 1 (1:32 with variations). The course has started in the summer of 2017, and the first stage was ready in the autumn.
There are experiments with different contractor techniques, rail types, bridges, building of rolling materials, etc. One of the concepts is to make as much as possible with available materials - and believe me, you always have a board and a few tiles lying when you living on an farm ...

Harrild Railroads p. 157 - Double Folding Bridge #10 - Making Weights
For binding the old part of the layout to the new "HighEnd" there'll have to be at high bridge in the corner of the garden.
Due to access for people and machinery it have to be a folding bridge.
Through the winter there have been a lot of thinking, and now it's time for some action! 🚂🙂

MeToo… 🚂😅
Nice toys.
Well, that was like watching paint dry.
Nice.
thanks for that interesting, I had thought about one of these but as I already have a silly amount of loco's maybe better not just subbed to you cheers
You’re such a talented creator! This video was incredible. 👏
I love the tunnel access that you have! Very good for that derailment that will always happen in the most difficult place!
Third box car
Hobo better be careful, he is not riding the DSB trains where you will at the worst get a fine.
right where Roger Miller said he would be.....
5th car in the open door box car.
very cool!! Love it!
it should not have sound, or if you could creepy ghost sounds
Back fill the blocks with aggregate or gravel. Water it and tamp it down, will be there forever!.
Machinist automatic punch on ABS plastic… well done caveman…
The factory smoke unit in my 2-6-6-2 Bachmann Baldwin,,,,, pretty much a joke The after market smoke unit in my friends one diesel is working alright though
NOT egg liner, Hippie liner.
Love the idea of a VW Railbus! It is a great project.
Wunderschön! Thank you for sharing. What a fun project!
Very Cool! I had a 65 split window bus in 1976. They are so much fun, I may have to build a rail bus for myself!
Spoil by Giant Hand and Monster Human being. Imagine if there's such a thing called editing. Kudos.
Very nice! Please remember to remove the batteries from your hand set if you are going to leave it for any length of time.
Nice install, I did an RS3 very similar to yours a couple years ago. I tend to burn my fingers with the hot glue, trying to work too fast. I like your install, looking great!
Well, I did most of the thinking while I did the rebuild of the A-unit. Second time is just that much easier. 🚂😊 And you don’t have to put the hot glue on the fingers…🙃
What is the total length of this track?
The small original 8 digit-loop is 42 m., the track through the large curve with all the bridges is about 30 m. In “the highend” (in the lowest part for the garden) I’m ready to lay down the next 50 m of track. When I finish the large loop I’ll be around 200 m for the first singletrack layout - and double up in the future, when I finish the second track loop. If you want it in ft., just make it x3,3. 🚂😊
Fint tog.... godt at Mikkel kan hjælpe Moffa 😊
Hyggelig video :)
Very cool!
Damn - det ser godt ud Harrild. Up and running again :-)
Kool...... Nice to see some opening for Season Prep...... Thank You for Posting/Sharing.....
Very cool! I use that same plumbers metal tape for securing some of my tracks.
Battery train is a god send for snow plowing.
Very cool! and cold, LOL I have the same tunnel material, works great for sounding the whistle/horn for a little echoing.
!Excellent shot. Like!
She is a Beautiful Engine!!
track power is just a mess outside, when we did it way back in the day we had a connection to the track every 2 - 3 Meters That is just 1/2 the speed my 2-6-6-2 do on a 5 cell battery, my little porter it is just on a 4 cell battery, but it is about all i can fit in one of the small ore cars, it is also smaller than the 5200 MAH batteries i have for the big trains. We do prefer to have the battery on a trailing car or tender, my friend even have sound system in a tender.
I always put a soft towel down when i work on something. Looks great!!
Kool.... Thank You for Posting.....
Neat bridges and a really cool engine.
The Engine driver is Piko's CEO Rene Wilfer!
Yes, with were staring eyes…🚂😄
Looks good :)
My friend is now talking about dismantling the track, and sell it all. We will see. BTW i have worked on MY during my apprenticeship at DSB in the early / mid 80ties, so yeah i know my way around those. I actually made a couple of speaker stands out of Pistons from a GM diesel, not sure if it was from the V16 though, threw them away after a while as they was too small for some of my speakers, and quite heavy for speaker " feet " It was cool how these pistons would " swim " on the rods so the piston could more around, i think it was for wear leveling CUZ i think these engines was also submarine engines before uncle Sam got all nuclear. I also have a table beer opener, made out of a exhaust valve for a train engine, or that is i think i still have, i have not been into beer drinking since the late 80ties, but it was made much like stelton beer openers
You got some interesting artifacts from your career, didn't get to keep them all but that's life.
She is a Beautiful engine!
Since it is 6-axle trucks it is more similar to a U.S.A. E9 but with control cabs on both ends. Will you strip out the Piko electronics or keep them intact and incorporate the R/C decoder?
These MY was produced from 1954 - don’t know what model exactly was the american prototype for these swedish build locos, but the motor was a 16 cyl. 2-stroke GM’s. They’ve got six axels because of the max. axel weight in Denmark. Yes, I’ll strip the Piko-stuff and put in Revo-RC receiver+sound. That’s how I made my F7a.
Very interesting. Thanks. Joe😊
It is a lot of work but well worth it.
