Explored Reading October 1st 2022 in preparation of walking the St James way. The museum is absolutely fantastic, definitely worth a few hours looking around!

Really annoys me when people say Reading doesn't have any history ...great video

I find it a very great pity that for such an important event marking such a significant establishment that so little effort has apparently been made to ensure that early 12th century Cluniac monks are being depicted in an authentic and respecful way. instead we seem to have a group of comedy monks, with the presenter joining in the disrespect at 1:51. Only a little time spent in researching the subject is needed to arrive at a more authentic and valid result - or simply ask someone who has some knowledge of the subject.

I visited the ruins today. Covid has reduced the number of tourists so I felt I had all the abbey to myself in the summer sunshine. I was born in Reading in 1961 and left it in 1969. Never been to the abbey ruins until today - 28/7/20. So proud that my home town has played a part in my country's history.
