Journey of the Universe
Приєднався 31 тра 2018
Today we know what no previous generation knew: the history of the cosmos and of the unfolding of life on Earth. Through the astonishing achievements of scientists, we now have a detailed account of how galaxies and stars, planets and living organisms, human beings and human consciousness came to be. And still...we thirst for answers to questions that have haunted humanity from the beginning. What is our place in the 14-billion-year history of the universe? What roles do we play in Earth's history? How do we connect with the intricate web of life?
Born at the Riverdale Center for Religious Research in New York under the direction of evolutionary cosmologist Thomas Berry, Journey of the Universe (JOTU) began in 1978 as an attempt to reflect on these questions. JOTU exists today as an ongoing project led by Brian Thomas Swimme and Mary Evelyn Tucker-encompassing a 2011 Emmy-winning film, a book, a podcast/video series, and free online courses taught by Mary Evelyn Tucker and John Grim.

Will miss you ..... Great Character
She was such a TERF when I took a course of hers. She kept complaining about the person working on her permaculture farm's pronouns for an entire year she wouldn't stop complaining about pronouns.
❤
❤thank you
What a FRAUD!! SHE IS NOT DINÉ.
Thank you...wherever you are
🙏for this wonderful conversation
Sam, Brian has been a mentor of mine since 1999 when 12 of us got together each Sunday evening to tackle his VHS series: Canticle to the Cosmos. btw, Humanity can only rise above the fray by coming together in unison, since that is the way of The Universe=aka _One Song_ !
Cooperation, observation.
Thank you. The more I learn about indigenous people and their teachings, the more I am sure that we have become lost to ourselves and the ways of the mother. Ultimately I believe the Lakota wisdom will save us not science knowledge but the wisdom we are so lacking in our materialistic approach to life. Tiokasin amazing talk. Thank you. ❤❤❤
Amazing talk! Transformative. Refreshing.
Thank you Tiokasin Ghosthorse..I'm grateful for your time and sharing with these type of platforms that are able to reach many...💞

My dead lie buried in the Black Hills, and so much of my life is interwoven with that place.
Equilibrium is the key.
Ha! The host didn’t get it. My background is blurry right now. :)
Thankyou
Beautiful. Maybe we will all meet up some day and say we were good...
Beautiful. Nourishiment for the soul
Thank you very much
I think that its a narcisistic society now. Technology’s caused harm. Should be second nature to treat. Mother. Earth with love and respect. Like it is with. Indigenous people. Thanks for sharing..🔥
Forced on us in pre christian history. First Nations never fought over gods. Territory yes. Gods no. It seems to be perpetual Groundhog Day. Fight over whose god is God and wait for a savior.
Amazing to hear in such clear & beautiful words what my heart knows & longs to find in community in the everyday world to join in working together for Healing. Mitakuye Oyasin.
It was wonderful speaking with you, Sam! Thank you for the opportunity to share the importance of spiritual work in nature as a foundation for environmental activism as well as highlighting The Center for Spirituality in Nature's work.
"Bridging theology with cosmology and ecology." Ah, yes. Exploring the nexus of these perspectives feels like the journey to an awakening or re-awakening that is so needed. Thank you for this conversation with Beth.
Yes to sharpening our senses! The world is waiting to be seen, heard, and sensed. And what a gift to us that is. Thank you.

I wish I'd been aware of Thomas Berry sooner.(/ I've always thought of the sun and earth as our "parents", mother earth and father sun. Berry's perspective and wisdom is the closest thing to my own lifelong innate feelings and thoughts. I had that foreboding as a child which has stayed with me as well. We are nothing without earth. Instead of Musk wanting to colonize Mars, why aren't we tending to Earth to keep it the beautiful vibrant and healthy home it was and should be now, if we take care of her. Instead of blowing the tops of mountains off and poisoning her waters, devastating her millions of species, why aren't we celebrating what a unique and amazing place our only living planet is? We are nothing without earth. We aren't healthy without a healthy environment. He is so accurate about how humans have made our self-appointed power a means of destruction. Humans play God over every other living thing, when we are all sharing this planet and in fact, related facets of it. I love this beautiful man and hope to see his wisdom taken to heart before all is lost.
I had fallen away from the “journey of the universe” project precisely because I felt it’s limitations, its singular perspective. I’m so grateful to this Lakota brother for taking the energy and the courage to attempt to help us viewers/students of the project come to a greater understanding of what it is we are actually part of. He could have remained silent, and Sam didn’t need to have him on the show. But they both stepped up, and here it is. This is a gift that renews my faith in where the journey of the universe project might be headed.
sorry to bother you again brother, just wanted to let you know my video is finished if you wanted to see what i'm trying to build for us all, hope to see you there! it's time to break science free!
Hey, i think you're awesome!!! I'm starting up new server on discord aimed at giving exposure to small science channels on youtube, idk if that sounds cool to you or not, it's still in alpha stage, would love to have you over there. basically gonna be a mix of small youtubers sharing their small audiences, and then we'll branch out and start advertising to the wider public to bring in an outside audience, anyway, hope you're good, i know the struggle, keep your head up!! i'll put the link in a separate comment so it's easy to find. i'll also be uploading a video about it on my channel hopefully tomorrow, catch ya later!!!
it wouldn't let me post the link, i figured it might not, but i'll be putting up a video about sometime late tomorrow probably if you're interested
This film should be sent to every household in the nation.
Love the topic but the sound doesn't match the video
This interview is a real step forward for me in my learning from the journey of the universe materials. However, it’s wonderfully complex and I will have to listen to it again! Also,I am not sure I understand the term allurement. Can anyone help me with that?
Beautiful thank you 🙏
with regards to Mr. Tom Collins, despite the fact that its been 16 years since he taught [dare I say, mentored] me)...although our face-to-face instruction ended nearly two decades ago - i continue to draw from the wisdom that he imparted upon me. He is the one individual in this life that changed my worldview and contributed more to my paradigm shift than perhaps any other individual (living or dead)....you opened my eyes and my world...that is the best way i can say it and still it seems lacking.
Amazing Film! Inspiring wisdom from the great Brian Swimme!

Fabulous summary of the amazing work put into all the parts of Journey of the Universe. I have watched Journey and the part called Conversations with my jaw dropping. The book is amazing as well but this new biography of Thomas Berry is so exciting. This project is the second GREAT work!! Thank you Anne and John Roberts
