Perfect and informative. Thank you for your explanation! <3
I typically use a 115 liter slalom board on my lake, but I switch down to my 93 liter RRD Wave Cult for the best ride in chop when the wind increases.
Sorry but ‘no’. I have been going for ~30 years and can attest: Tiree is dreadful, the beaches are awful, hardly any waves, rarely windy and don’t even get me started on the ‘locals’. Avoid at all costs…Cornwall is amazing
Per Goya for their sails, if it has been in salt water, then it can be stored rolled up just as it is (worked very well for me). If fresh water then it should be dried first. Not sure about this pressure washer nightmare. And it must be nice to have a garden the size of Cornwall, or even a garden at all.
What if you don't happen to have a pressure washer lying around? What if you can't get your 'special mixture' (I looked online and couldn't find it). If this is the ideal way, it would be helpful to hear what you think is the 'budget' way too. I know warm soapy water is probably fine, but as the rep for severne you may know some soaps/chemical cleaners that could damage the sail. Thanks!!
Really good harness, but stay away from the Severne hook. I have a size medium and changed to a Prolimit Hook which is wider and symetric in pull. So much BETTER, even tough it is allready excellent with Severne hook. Don´t understand why some manufacturers use a asymetric pulling hook at all, very bad idea that needs to vanish.
I tried the Severne pod seat harness this week for a 5 hour freeride; 3-4ft wave, cross on session and it is ideal. I used it with 36" harness lines. Takes the strain off your back. Thanks. I like that it is mostly black.
How many kg are you on the 83 ?
Great review , the sails look quite usable is the red one a RAF style sail ,what's the best speed achieved by a Severine 🌍🏆
Hi, can you share some more experiences with the 1800 wing? I have the 1400 and I’m courious to know the difference with respect to sails size snd earlier lift. Cheers
Forget the sail colours, check out that matching hat / pants combo! 🙌🏻😎 Thanks for the review ☺️
If this is a substitute for Severne Air, i woulnd´t buy any of those. This Mystic has an asymetrical pull cause of different spreader bar sides lengths. It has too be pulled as tight as interfering with breathing, aren´t we doing a sport where oxygen intake is vital ? If this is your level expertise, better not listen to it.
Thanks for your comment Rasmus - Any waist harness should be 'pull your stomach in' tight as once in the water it expands - then it fits perfectly.....EEEEZE!
Total gravel!!!!!
If you don’t use your v3 can you lend it to me haha
JAJA me encantó !
😎🏄♂️🤙
I have the 1400 wing.. was thinking of getting the 1800 for light winds I’m 75 kg...Or just stick with the 1400 and pump!
It's not April 1st....
Hi there, can you use North 400 platinum rdm in Severne NCX 5.5?? I am just tired of paying for a mast every time I change the sail brand. Please let me know.
High pressure washer on a sail?!? Doesn’t that damage the sail?
And there I was thinking a soapy sponge cleaned my sail
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Осталось купить компрессор или автомойку и все. 😊
Sail looks great! 🤙
I need a free sail please
A Gun Case
Yes you have a hot car but why is it in windsurfing video. Waiting for the wind to catch the sail or board and land on it
If they made a 4.2, I would switch from Blades to S-1. But now you always end up with a sail more in your quiver. I have 3.7-4.2-4.7-5.3 blade, which is good spacing between sails and limits the amount of sails you have. With the S-1 you end up with 3.6-4.4-4.8-5.2, not ideal as you really need to 4.0. You could go 3.3-4.0-4.8-5.2, but that is also not ideal as the gap 4.0-4.8 is quite big.
Interesting to see how uncomfortable Ben is being part of this staged spontaneous commercial/technical interview. Video itself is a joke - adds nothing to the info readily available on the website. Ben just states the sail will perform differently when you use a different mast. Neil turns this into 'never do that'. Ben is has this internal conflict between his technical self ("it might just work, depends on which mast and what you expect from the sail)" and his commercial self ("I should not ruin Neil's commercial vid by saying masts from some brands are actually quite OK in some Severne sails").
Since when, less mast foot pressure makes the board go on a plane faster??
What do you suggest me for Mauritius? Pyro, Nano or Mako?
Hi am buying a used 105 liter 2018. I weigh 100kilos. What sails will I be able to use accordng to my weight?
Totally agree with you there - loads of fun to sail! Oh, and the gybe flick is dreamy, so satisfying when it presents itself on the other side 😂
Awesome!! My top 3: Dunky, Albeau and Robby Naish
I bought two GT Gators this year, and both came badly wrinkled at the head due to improper rolling/storing the sail in the sail bag. The dealer raised the question to Severne and claimed that wrinkles do not go away, and sails had to be replaced under warranty. Severne's response was that this had been a usual thing for mylar sails, told us to live with it, and refused the exchange. This put me and the dealer in a difficult position because I paid the top dollar for the equipment. This has never happened to me before with Ezzy, Neil Pryde, Goya or North for the past 30 years. My windsurfing buddies had a sour taste with Severne also. So, from now on, I will only buy windsurfing equipment from a company that stands behind its products.
I had a similar issue 10 years ago when I bought a severne 5.5m synergy rig. When I bought it the clew end was already wrinkled up! The bag was designed to hold the whole rig and the sail inserts clew first into the bag. 🤦♂ Looks like many severne sails have the same issue with tight bags and a ridiculous backward design where the sail is put in clew end first. I bought a 9.0 iqfoil sail a year ago and I have to be super careful inserting the sail into the bag not to damage the clew end. Must say this is really annoying! I don't understand why the bags are designed so tight and backward. (Maybe it's to provide support for the sail while stored?) I think it does more harm than good. My Ezzy Lion rolls up perfectly and can be put into the bag in seconds without any risk of damage to the sail, because it goes mast end first into the bag.
Hi there, I was gonna buy two Severne GT Turbos, but I have seen wrinkles in the mylar at the head section of both sails due to improper packaging. Do you happen to know a method to remove the wrinkles??? They look ugly because that part of the sail is not stretched out after rigging. Happy holidays :-))
Hi, I'm a 95kg, expert rider (Italian wave conditions). I'm hexitant between Pyro 99 and Dyno 95. Do you have any suggestion for me? Thanks. Henry
👍👍👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀😀
I use a Christmas Tree box from B&Q, I bought the foam from Dunelm Mill, works well.
Hi Neil, my eagle eye spotted that the SVS logo in the window of the S1 sail behind you has an error : it says LIMTED instead of LIMITED ! Please tell me the spelling mistake will be corrected on the final sails… ? Other than that, great idea, the Blade sails are awesome and the orange LIMiTED should look superb,. Considering getting one
Hi Nawona. I’ve not noticed but I’m up in Tiree just now with them testing the sticker integrity so will look. Thanks so much for the heads up tho…..
Please ask yourself why the modern jet aircraft does not use an epileptic leading edge :-))
your video is overexposed, it is burned
Maybe sail the board before testing it? In waves as its a wave board. Oh I forgot you don't actually wave sail. You sail at Wells by the sea which is flat. Also Mike Tovey is right below. Koster and many other sailors myself included like twin fins. It loosens the board which is great for uk conditions. He only rides it as a quad in big groundswell. check the interview. almost never as a thruster. Seems to me you prefer flat water 'blasting' so would be better suited on the freeride kit. Then you might stop moaning about lack of grip!
Still no footage or proof that you have ridden a wave on it. What a joke this is. Just seen the 'test' of the pyro done in no wind and flat water. Its a wave board. The funniest thing was the first test of the pyro before that in which half way through you admit to not having sailed it yet! It seems if you like the look of it that makes it a good board! Its no wonder windsurfing is on its knees.
Question on old video, but maybe you still answer. Karo von Tonder explains in her Severne ncx rigging guide that the 3 lower battens should be tightened to the fullest, to get a nice profile in the sail. As the ncx is built that way, mimicking a cambered sail profile. Tried this method and it worked really well, sail feels really stable but powerful. Do you know does this also work for the Gator sails? Recently bought a 7.5 Gator for light wind sailing.
Have had my 95 Fox for about a month now, must say the control of this board... like Neil said ...is awesome. Eats chop up without having to worry about " going over the handlebars". Just one mention about the new 95 is that cutouts on bottom are now gone...just a note incase people are wondering ...as I was . Severn says it's to increase control. Would be interesting to compare cutouts vs non cutouts . Neil you have both....just saying.
Wow - that didn't explain anything to anyone except some masts are tougher or lighter than others, which we all know. Neil, you tried hard, but "the man himself" needs to step up and actually explain why and how the masts are different and which sails are suited to which masts.
As much as I love the brilliant Severne sails I hate their masts incompatibility. It is so hard to get a Severne mast in Canada, not mention the huge price tag on them....
We appreciate all the comments regarding mast compatibility , but good honest info is what we are all about. Others can tell you what you want to hear but that doesn’t help anyone in the long run. Remember we do ship globally so you can get your ideal mast wherever you live from Severneshop.com
Great Info on the boards Neil. I have ordered a 95, because just like you mention , in extreme chop my Free Race feels like bucking bronco..lol. I know you have sailed this board alot so would like to know what's the largest sail you have tried on this board (95) ? thanks
That’s great. The largest sail a Dyno 95 can take is 6.5 and even then that’s on a single 28-30 fin.
@@Severneshopcom Sorry , I buying the fox, so wondering what is largest sail you have put on the Fox 95.
Oh sorry - on my fox 95 it would be a NCX 6.5. You could maybe push to a 6.7 with a bigger fin
What a crappy sound, the wind blows and the heavy breath of the photographer ruins the whole experience. "We do the best videos out there! No you don't, far from!
Well we do more vids than you ....Mr no content!
