Im new to NASs.... why would you use these? Don't you add the hard drives to the bays or is this for speed of specific operations? Or is it just an alternative housing?

Can i start with 1HDD and 1 SSD and expand later when i need?

If I have 4 HDDs of 10 TB each (4 WD RED PRO) inserted and configured in Software Raid 0, then can I achieve speeds above 800 MB/s or 900 MB/s?

funnily enough the thing that made me get the most excited was them using apt at the end. I'm still on TOS 4 with OpenWrt but this definitely makes it worth the upgrade

I bought the F6-424 MAX, be careful, the OS is one of the crappiest experiences I've ever had. It is impossibly buggy and permissions are a pain to set (still unable to do it properly)

Its a pity they dont support ECC RAM :/

Being built on Ubuntu, it would be nice to open source the software so that it can be audited.

If this was made as a DAS with USB-4 and allowing around 3GB/S connection - it would easily become the best editing DAS ever

Coming from an older Synology (2018). As a SOHO user, I picked up a 2-bay on Amazon Prime Day to give it a whirl. Hardware is a nice upgrade from what Synology offers. Software of TOS5.1 is a bit lacking. I am not willing to beta test, but I will ask if Let's Encrypt certificate wizard might come to TOS6.x? It's not the end of the world if it doesn't but it would be a welcome offering. Also some better firewall options on the device to make sure RFC1918 management addresses do not get locked out if desired, allowing SSH/sftp with ssh key only (no passwords).
