Is the 72" plenty long enough?

Yes. I’ve used it in 2’ chop no problem. On a calm day the motor can move my boat faster than 2.5. I’ve spot locked in the Niagara river. Slower currents no problem

Screwball yes. That’s a Downrigger rod. It’s bent over because the line is attached to a 15 lb cannonball. He only moves it to avoid a tangle. There was no fish on it during this video.

Honestly with the PS 30, I usually run it on auto. I’ll manually increase the gain if I’m running very deep and having trouble seeing my cannonballs

Looks like it got beat up by a bigger musky. Or mishandled. I’m planning another dive there this coming June
