I liked how Catherine was at the wedding

It is so relatable to watch Mary grow as a character. One could barely imagine all the ordeals the teenage girl was put through by the patriarchy society until her adulthood and early tragic demise, manipulating her like a doll. Too bad Mary was confident she could wage war against a woman who in name defeated the Armada of the then powerful Spain. However, it was the hesitant Queen Elizabeth that kept Mary alive until the power hungry men lost impatience with female rulers and tried to play them as pawns on a chessboard. They both had the last laugh when James succeeded Elizabeth who certainly thought this through and remained childless so that the two kingdoms could be United at last.

I am fully aware that this show only uses Lola’s death as an incentive for Mary to vow vengeance on Elizabeth for the sake of drama, but Mary’s ambition to usurp her English cousin and fellow queen is quite absurd in my opinion seeing that the latter never wished to wage wars both politically and religiously, having claimed that she does not wish to make windows into men’s souls. This is a sign that the Tudor queen intended to rule as a pacifist, not a conqueror like the radical Catholic Scots depicted her.

They focused way too much on relationships, romance, and pretty girls focused on marriage and sex, as if condescending to their target audiance of young women. Adelaide Kane made Mary, Queen of Scots a fierce yet graceful Queen- the plot didn't give her much political drama to work with though. No real mysteries or dilemas, stuff just happens around them without much thought. There's a reason you don't feel like watching after Francis dies. Love the characters/acting though.

I love this, you can see the difference even in her dresses. She is wearing white with Francis but gold to darnly. In history gold was the color for French weddings but she wore white to honor her country and traditions. I don't know if it was purposeful but it shows her honoring France and her true soulmate!😚

Funny that in real life , Mary chose herself Darnley and married him because she loved him. He just behaved until they were married and showed his true colours. He was abusive and murdered her good friend and secretary out of jealousy in front of her when she was pregnant. Francis was an arranged marriage but they loved each other since children but he was always a bit sickly and died soon after their marriage. Poor Mary

I love Reign so much. I think a lot of people forget that it isn't really a love story, it's the tragic story of how Mary loses everyone she loves an eventually gives up on her personal happiness. It is so well done, as much as I hated the last season because Francis died and Mary was miserable, it was beautiful in the darkest way.
