FΛDE - Cocktail Hour [Bytebeat cover, oscilloscope view]
Yeah this osci view does not look great.
I coded a whole engine from scratch to make this cover. The end result is not 100% identical and it misses a few thing here and there (especially the slowdown at the end). There are also some volume pops but overall it's good enough I guess.
I didn't manage to find all the chords of the original tune and not having its source file, I used the one from Esteban Trujillo's (@et1999cc_chip) C64 cover to get what I missed. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/0WPTjcFg2zY/v-deo.html.
UA-cam doesn't allow me to add external links yet so find the bytebeat code on my reddit profile (same username) if you want it (I also fixed the popping issues there).
Tools I used to make this:
Music cover: My own engine in Bytebeat (dollchan site)

THIS MUSIC IS NOT MY OWN, I'll remove this video if the author wants me to do so. I didn't find an existing osci view of this tune so I thought I'd make one. Too bad it ends like that though. More info: 1x SID 8580, 50Hz speed. Tools I used to make this: Audio tracks: Jsidplay2, Oscilloscope view: Corrscope

A (messy) cover of the most mysterious song on the internet, which was a song aired on radio in the 80's, rediscovered on cassete recordings and still unidentified to this day. I used 희민Heemin's excellent FamiTracker cover ua-cam.com/video/-XRaLoxgebI/v-deo.html as reference for chords and drums, check it out it's awesome! This video is marked as using copyrighted content lmfao More info: 2x SI...

An attempt at making a better melody, but I didn't put enough effort in chords and bass so it sounds a bit bland. More info: 1x SID 8580, 50Hz speed. Tools I used to make this: Composition: Jummbox, GoatTracker 2, Audio tracks: Jsidplay2, Oscilloscope view: Corrscope

The first music I ever made. I'm not very proud of it and I have a lot more to learn, but it's still worth being uploaded here ;) More info: 1x SID 8580, 50Hz speed. Tools I used to make this: Composition: Jummbox, GoatTracker 2, Audio tracks: Jsidplay2, Audio editing (for the fadeout): Audacity, Oscilloscope view: Corrscope

awesome, even more considering you wrote your own engine for that! how long did it take in total?

    • @Sychamis
      @Sychamis 20 годин тому

Something like 3 hours to get the engine to work and around 10 hours to make the cover.

"Conventional" tunes like this typically use sounds found in older video games so yeah it would fit pretty well.

i'm picturing a small demo featuring that tune, fits quite well too

Cool cover! I made a cover as well on this and your version is nicely composed. I do think however that the high note that switches octaves during the chorus part should be E, not B to match the original if I am not mistaken.

Thanks for pointing that out, I wasn't sure which note was right and I thought B made more sense (I'm not a musician lol). I'll fix that if I re-release this tune in the future.

am i the only one who thinks this would fit nice in a demo if it had a slightly richer melody?

Well, my goal is to make music for demos once I get good at composing. I wanted to see how well I could do that with this tune.

@@stio_studio I had very little motivation for coding during the summer holidays and I wanted to make music the same kind I like to listen. I asked squarepoint to teach me some stuff about music theory and I learned how to use goattracker 2, then I just made stuff until it sounded good :D
