Mental disorders brings out the worst in people, I don't think that counts at all. Hidden in those mental disorders is an individual who's unique the way they are either from life experiences or their creations etc. So yes, there really are unique people in this world, including all of us. It's just that for some people it takes a while for them to showcase the best version of them to the world. As for now, they're just gonna be singing or saying the same thing as a coping mechanism, but not everyone is this way though, there are still sunshine and rainbows somewhere else. I also feel like, at the same time, it's not really a bad thing that singers or anyone in general say or sing "similar things" regarding about mental illness and stuff because as we all know, a lot of people in this generation are quite depressed, and these people relating to these artists or people would at least make them feel at ease in a way? It's as if they don't feel isolated about struggling in life because there are other people who go through similar things as them. It probably would feel a bit odd when you don't relate to them but that's totally fine. Plus as for what you said in the ending, Creativity in stories and in general are never a competition. Ask yourself, is it possible you're going for perfect? And that's why you got yourself thinking creativity should be comparable? Also, personal problems are not meant to be unique. No one has a more unique problem/struggle than the other. A person's personal problem shouldn't be disregarded like a waste just because it isn't unique enough, so why should you think so with yourself? Write the story either way even if it means it's similar to a person's story. The effort and how the story is directed is what differs it from the others. Being unique doesn't necessarily mean completely stand out from the crowd, sometimes it means something personally special just to yourself. Everyone goes through personal challenges and you shouldn't feel bad just because someone goes through 'worse problems' than you. This is not a competition, there's no 'worse' and 'unique' problems. Struggling is equal 💪
