Absolutely brilliant and powerful acting.

I love this film! There are a couple of missing scenes after 9:14, until Laura LaPlante is in the water. I'm always on the lookout for the complete picture.

Great to see parts of my home town RYE in this film , Bottom of Mermaid Sreet the Windmill and the big old gas cylinder.

They went a little over the top with the birds.

A good movie with plenty of twists and turns in it. Still very watchable due to the age of it though.

This isn't the complete movie. It's missing 12 minutes. One of my favorites, but only the full 1hr and 22 minutes.

The quicklime in the cellar doesnt really make any sense. Or is the implication that Christine (without Paul's knowledge) had already been planning to murder Mark? But why leave it in plain sight in the cellar? And then there's the loaded gun in the bureau. Why does Mark leave it there? For all he knew, Christine and/or Paul could have shot him as soon as they arrived back. And why does Christine cut the telephone line?

I wrote and attempt to post a thoughtful critique about the film and Ruth Hall...but UA-cam for some reason censored my comments...so it earned you a Thumbs down.

Personal life:- Hawkins married actress Jessica Tandy in 1932, and the couple divorced in 1940. Together, they had one daughter, Susan Hawkins (1934-2004). In 1947, Hawkins married former actress Doreen Lawrence (1919-2013), and they remained married until his death in 1973. Doreen, upon marrying Jack gave up acting completely to became a housewife and mother to raise their family: Together, they had three children, Caroline (b. 1955), Andrew (b. 1950), and Nicholas. Death In May 1973, Hawkins had an experimental operation on his throat to insert an artificial voice box. He started haemorrhaging and was admitted to St Stephen's Hospital, Fulham Road, London, forcing him to drop out of The Tamarind Seed (1974), in which Hawkins was to have played a Russian general. He died on 18 July 1973, of a secondary haemorrhage. He was 62. His final appearance was in the television mini-series QB VII. His autobiography, " Anything for a Quiet Life ", was published after his death. He was cremated and his ashes interred at Golders Green Crematorium in North London.

I enjoyed this, especially the hard boiled banter-need more of that! I thought the ending was telegraphed about an hour before the end, it seemed like. Ok, half an hour.

I didn’t see any tits, nothing blow up (apart from the plane), no one had any superpowers (apart from Jenny) and yet I throughly enjoyed this story and this piece of cinema…. Must be something wrong with me.
