3:09 off on the right hand side is NavCan training Institute while you were talking about the percentage of French speakers in Cornwall. Too bad it's so far back from the road so a person has to have a sharp eye to spot it. Back in the 1980s it was called Transport Canada Training Institute (TCTI) and I was there in 1982 and 1988 for Meteorology courses. I don't see any sign of the factory that used to be just west of TCTI -- used to emit foul odors (we students used to call it the "fart factory") -- did they tear it down?
Great information thinking of moving there.
That first building on your right is the SD&G County road works. The township office is in the next village north called Berwick.
Thanks for uplaoding the video , I enjoyed .
At chsterville there are stairs to take you down to the river. It is beautiful. Think entrance location is at the gas station. It is awesome
Mark, I am enjoying your videos. I'm a retired Nurse from Vermont, and a dual citizen (though I never lived in Canada). I am thinking of moving somewhere in the Greater Cornwall area. Regards, Jim

Just found out the Ace hardware is permanently closed 😢
Chesterville was home to the first Nestles milk plant where they produced carnation milk, chocolate, and Nestles Quick. The plant closed down in 2006
I had an aunt and uncle who lived in a house everyone called "Ingleside". The town was named after the house. I don't know the precise location, but my mother's diaries tell of her train trips with her mother to Aultsville, and being met by a horse & buggy and being driven to the nearby house. The house dated back to at least the 1800s, but was too big to be moved, and so was flooded. My aunt and uncle received excellent compensation, and had a house in Morrisburg (it might have been Cornwall - I had relatives there too). I think some historic buildings also ended up at Upper Canada Village. I still remember walking around on the almost dry riverbed and huge rocks before they blew up the temporary dam. In the early 60s, we would have family drives and picnics every second or third Saturday during the summer, to one of the beaches along the Long Sault Parkway. At the time - you needed a permit to drive on the road (maybe you still do?) - we had a season pass.
Sorry, didn't know the camera was on at the beginning
Nice 👍
Hi Mark! I love your videos. I am a fan of small towns which is why I moved to one! I live in Hawkesbury, Ontario, and I’d love you to do a video here too!
Hi Mark, please do consider a visit of my town of Hawkesbury, about 30 minutes north of Alexandria. We are located right below the Ottawa River and we have a beautiful island park with the walkable Long-Sault Bridge which connects to Grenville, Québec.
Long Sault population is 2100, Ingleside is 1500. Finally found it. According to a local of Ingleside the layout is not quite the same as what broadcaster Harvey kirck had said. He called them modern shoebox communities created to house by choice those displaced by the international flooding of the Seaway. They both served the same purpose.
Great videos!
@@RealChrisFischer thanks, I'm still learning and experimenting
Sorry, Dish Wish is a catering services company. I thought it was a gift shop

What a lovely township. Barkleys has an atm and I'm sure groceries.
@@purtonpa yes I didn't know they had that many groceries
Barkley's store actually is 116 yrs old. My mistake 😬
VERY NICE SIR
You did a wonderful job giving a tour of Maxville. I give some more background of maxville. Mechanic Street where the Kilt Bar across from the Scotia Bank, used to be a corner store owned by the Epsteins. They were wonderful couple that everyone loved. Also, where the Scotia Bank is was an empty lot then besided that there was an OPP head quarters. Maxville Manor was build in the 1970 only one building and now it is hugh. I grew up in Maxville, The first house after the empty lot by the bar. Everyone knew everyone. I miss this little town. Plus, both my parents went to school in Maxville.
Nice town, always wanted to visit. Thanks for the tour. Cheers from Ottawa.
Really enjoyed learning the history. Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it
And every spring the Raisin River canoe race.
My two sons went to that High school
There's not much left in Bonville anymore other than the Lion's Club.
@@denisemckiver69 exactly. It's become a retirement community.

THe old Pop shoppe location!!
WOW. The last time I saw that area, near St. Lawrence College, there was no gas station, I think it was a field ? but in the field right across from the gas station there was a big old beautiful house! what a shame to see that old house gone. I am sure it has been many many years now, but I remember that big brown house being there.
