Replacing old 1-1/4” PRV with new Zurn PRV and adapter for length.
The old 1-1/4”pressure regulator valve was longer then the replacements Zurn manufacturers. I called them and they provided an adapter to purchase, which I noted for you in this video.

New American Standard Toilet leaking water? Try this.
Переглядів 30 тис.Рік тому
The American Standard Champion toilet has a reputation for leaking flush valves, even when fairly new. The toilet in this video (4215A) was only six months old and began leaking. Solution: Verify the grey mechanism has been fully tightened, otherwise you’ll have a small gap that will cause leaking into the drain over time. Here’s the replacement flush valve: American Standard 3174002-0070AP - C...

You're a genius. When I went to look for possible problem I was happy to find that mine was indeed loose! I have tightened and hope not hear anymore ghost flushes. FYI. If yours is a solid green top it will still unscrew like the one that seems to be everywhere on UA-cam.

Holy crap a few days of replacing my flapper from the base model due to a crack i saw that my toilet was STILL leaking and i swapped the flapper with one like this and it was still draining. Just took it off and saw it wasnt tightened. Lets hope this was just the problem.

Help! My son has a 4425A American Standard.toilet in a 2nd floor bathroom. There is no ghost flushing and the water in the tank is at the correct level. But the water in the bowl gets lower till its nearly empty. No odor, water around the base or loose bolts on the base. What is going on? Anybody have an idea? Thanks

Each night as I read to my boys at bedtime I heard my new American Standard Champion (4215A) start to refill every 5 minutes. I was so annoyed at this. I followed all of the manufacturer's instructions for installation, but this new toilet was leaking. I tried this fix and it worked immediately. Thank you so much. I am sure I would have never found this as you cannot see it unless you really get in there.

For the newer model with the solid green cap, the long plastic rod that keeps the cap centered over the hole does unscrew from the cap. Takes more force than you would think. Left hand unscrews the cap while the right hand reaches underneath to hold the rod still.

We have had issues off and on with leaking in new our AS toilet since we installed it. We were to the point of either replacing the tank or the entire toilet. So glad we stumbled across this video today! It is EXACTLY what we found and tightening it solved the problem! No more leaking! You are amazing! Thank you for posting this solution!

Spot on, spot on! Thanks. But perhaps a video showing (even though it does spin off) how to get the damn thing out of the toilet. Particularly with human hands. Holy crap, was sure I was going to snap off something. By the way, my ring fell right off and down into hole perfectly so I couldn't even see the ring. I thought the "lock barbs" on the top piece were what was supposed to hold the seal on until I saw your video. Thanks again.

I don't have that grey piece between the seal and the green top. Mine has notches which I lined up with the "cup" below, but still water is leaking into the bowl (did a dye test). Do I need to replace the entire valve assembly? Toilet is 5 yrs old and this is the first time it's leaking water. I changed the seal already with an American Standard seal & new O-ring.

To get off the solid green top, turn it, and keep turning it until is unscrews from the stem. When fixed then just screw it back on. I had to hold the stem in place while I unscrewed the green top with my hand. My seal has a bump in it. Not sure if that is normal or is causing the problem. I will head to HD to look for a new seal.

Thank you for explaining how to remove this damn thing off. If you look at other videos those bubbles are the main reasons for the leak in the champion 4 model ( the one in this video is Champion model without the 4. For some reason HD stopped selling the champion 4 few years ago)

The main problem of the running toilet is the carbonates of water deposit in the flapper gasket, it is straightforward, there is no need to change the flapper, clean the carbonate deposits on the flapper's silicon gasket, and at the edges of the round pipe where this gasket rests.

Great video! Wish I saw this before 😂. I had a new toilet installed and it was leaking constantly. Lift on flapper, hold the black rod underneath while you turn your flapper according to what’s written on it, part comes off. The plastic part that holds the white seal wasn’t all the way on, once put back in place? Fixed the running water.

American Standard keeps making parts for its toilets that are not fit for the purpose they are manufactured for. In my opinion this is to generate sales of replacement parts down the road. Very unethical. I won’t ever by another American Standard toilet😡

Just installed 3 of these toilets. One is leaking. I have the solid green with out the black cap. How the heck do you take it off? I’ve tried turning it but it feels like it’s going to twist & brake. Can’t find any other videos with this cap with out the black screw top. TIA

Just installed a brand new American Standard toilet. I notice a leak coming from the water inlet at the bottom of the tank. The problem was the styrofoam inside the tank was under the red rubber washer and was not making a good seal, so I had to cut some of the styofoam away from the hole where the water comes in. I also had to buy a new rubber washer, because the original one was distorted. This part of the toilet was assemble at the factory. Poor quality control from the factory.

My brand new American Standard toilet was constantly leaking and refilling. I tried multiple things to try and fix it. Apparently after 2020, American Standard switched the flapper valve to this setup. When I removed the flapper, it was loose at the tabs as you said. All it needed was to be tightened and it was good to go. The extra play in the valve cover was the problem! Thanks for posting this it was very helpful!

I have this same exact type of flapper and I want to replace the seal. I am having difficulty getting the flapper out because it is attached to a stem. Any words of wisdom for me? My other toilet has a screw cap to remove the flapper but this one is a solid piece. I was able to turn it a slight bit and remove the bottom piece but the stem won't allow me to remove the top green piece to replace the seal.

Happened to me. After flushing i could see the flapper was askew. I did not disasemble anything. I held the green part in my left hand, with my right held i grabbed the grey ring on the bottom. Then i pushed them together and twisted it until i felt both parts were snug and the flapper was secured in between.
