    Gawd, I remember the clay bottom of that lake bed so well. In the latter 70s and early 80s the water was clear enough to see the mining equipment that had been sunk in the middle of the lake when the first Golden Rose mine became unprofitable. The Camp Louis resort had so many old photos of the mining and trapping era of that space. Great coconut creme pie too!

    Just spent 2 nights here- going to try to portage the trail from croooked to Alexander lake. Such a beautiful, pristine, quiet place to paddle and explore ❤ thanks for sharing

      Excellent, I've looked at Alexander but never made it over there. I spent 3 nights at Algonquin Park, Kiosk lake last weekend. Beat the bugs, I think they'll be much worse this weekend.

    Curious how you feel about leaping over 35s to the 37s. How it’s the handling and drive experience on and off road? Any regrets? Love the vid. Making me want to bail on work, climb in my Rubicon and get off-road ASAP!

    Wow reminds me of a few glacier lakes I’ve paddles in BC and Temagami backcountry. My gf and I were planning this trip in 2 weeks. It’s nice to get a prévue of the area, great footage ❤

      My friend had a trailer in the Diver area for years, so she kept telling me we needed to paddle Emerald lake. We finally got out this year, nice little spot.

    Heading here for two nights - thinking island on pine lake Saturday night… have you been? Wondering what the camping is like there? Any paddle trips planned for fall? We are heading ti Temgami for a few nights late fall :)

      I have a video on my channel of pine lake. I stopped on one island for lunch, lot's of spots for tents. I just got back from two nights on the French River. Hoping to squeeze one more back country trip in September. I have a Killarney trip planned in the fall, car camping and hiking. Enjoy Temagami, looking forward to the video as it's a location I would like to explore next year.

    Such a great hike - planning on sneaking in the back from Mattawa river and portage to Long Lake soon. With fire bans the last few years - we have been using our stove often.

      Excellent, I hope to see a video of that adventure. We only saw a small portion of the lake on foot. How are you liking your new canoe? We've been looking at a Swift, something light weight and suitable to solo paddle. Preferably used.

    Can someone help me figure this out? I have an ecodiesel sport. Installed mopar lift kit specific for ecodiesel and it only gave me 2" while everyone else is getting 3" and 3.5", I wonder why?

      Yes, a Steer Smart front track bar was installed at the same time as the lift and larger tires.

    I couldn't tell by the video if the Samuel De Champlaine plague, in the narrows, had been replaced; it was stolen back in the early '90s.

    Stunning. Love that place. The northern most tip of Solomon Island is a place we like to call “snake island”. We saw a huge northern water snake about 4 feet long and the size of my wife’s wrist…yikes.

      Wow, we've been to PEI twice but no snake encounters to date. We had hoped to get out this year but cancelled our trips due to poor weather during our days off. :(

      Not sure if you can crown land camp here. The area is very dense with trees so I didn't see any good spots. Some people camp at the launch which is annoying for people who want to access the lake. I did see a couple camping at another spot beside the highway not too far from the launch. At the end of the second swampy area in the video is another smaller lake but I did not venture out of the kayak to see if it was easily accessible.

      Thanks, the area is very rugged so very few flat spots for tents. Lot's of options for hammock tents. I have another video on my channel with a great spot to camp including a nice view.

      Thanks for the support. I wanted a Wrangler for years and when the time finally came to purchase one the Gladiator was available. Since we were replacing a Silverado the Gladiator was a much better fit than the Wrangler to transport kayaks, dirt bikes and four wheelers. The box is tiny, much smaller than the last mid size truck we owned, Ford Ranger.

      Thanks for subscribing. It is a very nice stove. Just remember to treat it like any other fire, start small and build your way up with the size of the twigs/sticks. I made the rookie mistake on the first use and was constantly filling with small twigs to keep the fire going. Enjoy your adventure!

      @@paddlegirl I knew it! I love guessing a location based on the areas geography. The color of the dirt gave it away as well as the trees. Very nice Gladiator by the way. How is the power loss with 37's? I also want to thank you something but it might sound rude, however that is not my intent. I have a pet peeve with UA-camrs regarding the videos of their vehicles. Most will film their face while talking in the video; I think to myself....I don't want to see your face, just your vehicle. So, thank you for not doing that.

      @@BreckoniousMaximus a little slower to accelerate. Rarely goes into 8th gear at highway speeds. Thanks for the feedback. I agree, many channels have too much face time and not enough footage.

    You really need a full skirt for that type of paddling. 90% of the time I use a half skirt-- so much easier and free to jump in or out or walk around.

      Good advice. This was our first paddle on a large body of water. We had full skirts packed in the boats but decided not to put them on, rookie mistake.
