2005 Honda Pilot EX Thermostat Replacement with Mahle TX14678D
I had an intermittent P0116 & P0118 for Temperature Sensor High Circuit and Temperature Out of Range. The Temp Sensor ECT 1 near the EGR was checked before considering replacement. With an Ohm Meter, it tested at 2.7 Ohms.
Checking online, many suggested that the common repair was a failing Thermostat and not a Temp Sensor.
In this video I show what steps I took to replace it. Due to the nature of the video, attempt at your own risk. It is assumed you are mechanically inclined to feel comfortable doing this replacement yourself. No liability is taken if done incorrectly or if the wrong part is installed.

One thing I don’t like for the 06-08 the rear brake lamp light comes on when you replace the tail lights with LEDs. Nice mod but the light comes on

Thank you for the video. I would have liked to see that funnel contraption come off. Looks like you would lose a bit of coolant. Or is there a plug you can put in so it can cool off before you put the radiator cap on?

Thank you for the video. I thought I’d had to take it to my mechanic to install these led lights on my 2021 Kia niro. They can do it myself. Easy. I’m just tired of the regular non-white lights in the front when the led lights are at the bottom of the headlights and they are the driving lights.

I'm not a fan of LED bulbs in closed spaces like this, they'd have to reduce brightness because of the temperature inside since the fan has no access to the fresh cold air.

Hello, the description has been updated with a link to a brand I recommend. You can use any bulb you prefer. Unfortunately, the bulbs used in this video are no longer offered on Amazon. They've been working great and visibility is improved over the stock bulbs.

It says fog lights, are these right for the normal lights?
After reviewing thie video, yes the packaging can be confusing. I recall these can be used for BOTH, either as High/Low Beam or Fog lights. Not every bulb is made this way. I always suggest to read the item description when shopping online or customer reviews. Hope this helped clarify.

The LEDs look great. There is not an error code on the dash.

This happened to me today. The bulb in the back says H11 LL, any H11 that I have bought is H11 and is just too big, did you find any leds that fit?
Good video. When refilling the cooling system, while the engine is idling, it is a good practice to turn the heater on HIGH to allow the heater core to send any air bubbles out.

I have a 2005 Pilot also , my cooling fans only come on when the ac is on, if I shut ac off the fans stop. Any thoughts?
The fans will only come on when you're parked idling or parked in traffic. They're meant to create airflow through the radiator and condenser for proper heat exchange. Is your SUV overheating when stopped in traffic? I would look up online how to properly troubleshoot the fans. I'm not a mechanic by trade. I would not be able to answer your question since no proper diagnosis has been done.

The most likely culprits are a thermostatic switch, fan resistor, temperature switch, low-speed or high-speed relay, or a wiring issue

It doesnt matter if you touch the glass of the hold bulb since you're replacing it.
Thank you. It didn't occur to me. Usually the bulbs are being replaced because they burned out, so yes it doesn't matter to touch the glass. The old bulbs were still working, always a good idea to keep a pair in the trunk for an emergency. 👍
Extensions affect torque reading/specs
Yes, I made that clear on the video. That's why the torque is a bit more to compensate for using an extension. If you have another method to do so, please share. Thanks 👍
I don't believe they do. There's a UA-cam video where a guy uses a ridiculous amount of extensions and tests the torque of it and it stayed the same. I think that the only thing that changes the torque is the angle of the head

Hi. How many watts is the included type c to c cable?
It's a basic 3A cable. At most it's only good for 18W. I would recommend a 60 - 100 watt cable so that it can be backwards compatible with your devices that use a Type C to C connection. Keep it mind this only supports PD3 and QC3 watt output.

Yes. I use an Aukey Omnia 65W PD charger. It works fine. As long as it's over 30W it's fine.

You download ThinkDiag+ for Android or ThinkDiag from Apple store for iPhone. As of right now the iPhone version of the software does NOT support the ThinkTPMS G1 tool for programming and diagnosing of TPMS sensors for your car. I would recommend using a device that uses Android instead.
