IARU contest 20m CQing
2024-07-14 13:53 local time. Didn't participate much this contest due to other obligations but managed a few hours here and there, this is at the very tail end of the contest. Nothing impressive at all about this video.

2024-06-29 20:48 Local time. Trying to get my CW copy speed up, not easy.. The audio isn't as nice as I hoped, I think it may be clipping although it didn't look like it in OBS..

2024-05-25 14:53 local time. Conditions were fantastic, k index more or less of 0 and close to no absorption over the polar paths to the west coast. This is a testament to how good propagation can be if there's little disturbance over the north pole. Makes 100w easy.

2024-05-26 09:49 local time. Not the best conditions to VK, incredibly difficult copy with the slight polar path flutter on the signals. IMO VK6T should have slowed down a little bit here. I'm fairly sure I got the number right but it wasn't easy, however, again in WPX it's a matter of working prefixes, not necessarily DX.

2024-05-26 23:42 local time, trying to rack up the QSO count to get somewhere near last years results... At 2:52 I mess up the serial number from TA2D after spending forever making sure he gets my serial number correctly, how ironic, and sad because that was 6 point multiplier. Of course I could have looked through this before uploading my logs and edited the logs to correct it but that would b...

Love it!
Which version of Morse Runner? Is this the Community edition 1.84?
Yes indeed it's the community edition.

Nice work
Keep practicing. I go from 38-45 and back down to 33. 10 minutes each. It really helps with icr and contesting
Yeah definitely, there are some short moments where I just type without really thinking, it's magical. I want more of that and less thinking.. 🙂 Takes time I guess.
@@StianEklund same here. I call them rhythm of clarity
Tnx for Qso (Minute 09,30) 73's de IP2M Max (IZ2LTW)

@@StianEklund you do, actually :) ua-cam.com/video/Ev69gBFm6CQ/v-deo.html Cheers. And thanks for the videos, I was looking for others' operating experience. Still learning.
@@StianEklund youtube seems to not like my comment linking to another of your videos. You have our qso on 40m 21:55 on 26th. Cheers :) And thanks for the videos, I was looking for others' operating experience, I'm still learning.
@@cmatei awesome! I'm also learning hehe, I've been learning cw for almost 4 years
I really butchered some nrs last weekend. Haha
Lol yeah one of the more embarrassing moments for me, TA2D calling me on 40m, he was struggling to get my serial probably for various reasons. I then finally get him to copy and then only to mess up the serial I receive from him. Such a painful thing to watch, especially knowing that if I hadn't uploaded the logs I could have gone back and changed the logs and then uploaded them. Would that be cheating? Sort of? I uploaded all the videos here _after_ I submitted the logs for the contest, though. It is what it is :P
Thanks............Tom KH0W
Thanks for the QSO Tom FB propagation back then.
Aurora means speaking slowly ;) lb1ti as heard L B 1 T I I tried to record a 2m QSO on May 11 but I did not succeed... TU FER AUDIO, TU FER VIDEO
It really depends on the aurora and the conditions, sometimes there can be auroral Es mixed with the backscatter makes SSB a lot easier, or if the signals are stronger it's a little easier although you need to really slow down the speech. Weaker aurora signals are very difficult to copy. Might just be my 3 element yagi :P
Awesome..de YC2VOC
I like the look of your n1mm colors. You’ll have to show how you did that
Definitely! I messed something up though because the background of the info box is messed up.. I think I was able to fix it yesterday. There's some weird behavior when you change operators even though the skin is the same (you can have different skins per operator). I can try to send you the skin file if you want but I'd prefer to send you something that doesn't have the wonky problems seen in the video.
@@StianEklund thank you. Let me know when you get the bugs worked out
I love your screen set up!
Thank you Stian for this audio/visual report - most appreciated! Best 73 de Lars, SM4AXY
There are fewer and fewer participants in the tests, our hobby ham radio contesting is in a dying stage, especially since those competing in one category do not have equal chances with the SO2R category; many, because of this discrimination, quietly left these “competitions”.
The number of participants in contests have been increasing, for WPX the entry statistics are readily available: www.cqwpx.com/stats.htm Therefor I think I could argue the opposite, however, yes, the SO2R is the only way to win the single op category these days, however many contests have many categories and overlays; in my eyes it's still worth competing in them. From my location & latitude it's more or less impossible to win anyways because propagation is vastly different than from mainland Europe. 73 DE LB1TI
Good contact! JF9JTS
Gud job
Thx! Took me a a few days of trying, got a bit lucky on 20m as the pileup was massive
@@StianEklund took me a few days as well. I haven’t gotten them on 20 yet. The op moves a lot more than usual though. He may go up 2k after a Tu.

I'm surprised I didn't understand it was K3LR calling me at 8:10 🙄
wow, respect. greetings from a novice CW er PA0KGB
JA3YBK is heard even with no path at all😅
I'm not very familiar with Japanese stations maybe except JE6RPM. Is JA3YBK a large contest station?
Hi Stian. How do you share the CAT port between MM and ARCP-590?
In this specific case I have ARCP connected via USB and N1MM connected to the RS232 (serial) port in the back of the radio. It's also possible to use VSPE (virtual serial port emulator by Eterlogic) to split the serial port but in general ARCP handles this poorly.
@@StianEklund Ok, got it, thanks. CU next contest de UY7C Max.
Gud job
You make this look easy for a new cw contester. The layout is very nice and efficient what size monitor did you use. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, I'm fairly new to cw myself, learned it during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2018. I use a 4k 27" monitor
Hi, I also use Home Assistant, did you installed additional fans on the rig or how do you monitor there state in HA? What do you use in HA related with Ham radio?
Hi, I use esphome with esp32's and bme280 sensors. The sensor is mounted right next to the radios exhaust fans so it's not precisely the transistor temp but hopefully close
I really like the dark skin on n1mm. Would like to know how to do this. Tnx w4zxt
There are several ways, facebook.com/N1MMLogger/photos/a.597411463661818/1331811166888507/?type=3 I believe I used a theme but customized it. It's a bit difficult as N1MM isn't fully customizable and some parts don't really work all that well with a dark theme. Hopefully this helps.

wow - first time I see this amazing !!!! - Great to see I was so loud in Norway lol
Keep in mind my antenna at the time was indoors.. Back in 2018 the signals from the middle east was very very strong at times in the early afternoons. I was listening for a while before calling and your signal was peaking s9 +10 to 20dB at times. Happy New year Amir!
