In this video Jimmy and myself are beginning a short 3 day ride north on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Encountering some of the Parkway closures, and their detours, enjoying some good food, great riding, and visiting a few small Virginia towns, and some National Parks sites

March Moto Madness 2024
Переглядів 2093 місяці тому
I ventured over to Telico Plains, Tn on Friday for the March Moto Madness Mother Rally 2024. What a great event, first time for me, unfortunately I was unable to take advantage of all the great gravel/off road routes in the area(ankle is still jacked up) Got to meet lots of like minded individuals and reconnect with some old friend. Long Haul Paul was there, some pro MX riders, and a few GS qua...

a conversation about a very short group ride on 3/3/24. A whole mile of gravel before I made a few unwise decisions. However it sure was fun... Until it wasn't!
When does the adventure speak to you...

While out riding the last day of 2023, Motoramblings and myself with our usual banter had this discussion. When does the adventure speak to you? For me, it usually takes awhile, but when it happens... that's the only thing that matters, If for only a brief moment... stand and smile! also the first ride with the new Scorpion EXO carbon, Wow so light and comfortable . Going to take awhile to get ...

Beautiful riding on the BRP 😎👍👍
Cherokee NC is around 2 hours from where I live, and we ride up a few times a year. 😎👍
Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😎👍
Nice ride my friend beautiful scenery thanks for sharing that with us
yes! riding into the sun during the morning hours makes for lousy video! I need a filter for my Sena camera!
we're possibly heading down that way this month or next month. is it worth it even with all the construction? when I looked at the map, there was quite a few detours and single lane closures.
I think it’s worth it! Very much so, the detours give you a glimpse of the communities, and an opportunity to check out some of the small towns along the way!
Wonderful twisties! Been on the parkway once and wished I was on the bike!
It’s a great Thin Line Road indeed! I hope you get a chance to ride it!
Fresh asphalt is a pain to get off of any vehicle 😎👍
Not fun!
Where’s the ice cream?
That’s what I’m saying! Tell me where all the good ice cream shops are and never stop! That’s a terrible thing to do to a fat man!😂
@@ridingthethinlines that’s a terrible thing to do to anyone! That dude is cruel!!!😂🤣😂
Your traveling buddies sure do go to some cool places!! I just go to Georgia!😂😂
What’s wrong with Ga? The roads you got to ride down in Ga. are some great roads!
@@ridingthethinlines nothing at all wrong with Georgia! Loved every bit of it, but it just doesn’t have the same feel as saying I rode the Dolomites!😂🤣😂
@@Motoramblings 🤣🤣🤣
Very nice ride! Some fantastic roads, and sights!!
Very nice ride! Looking forward to seeing the new homestead soon!
Sir I have 21 rk speacial added kst 12 bars per your video n my age just right height. Love em may I suggest u upgrade your windsheild to freedom 22 inch tinted almost zero head buffering n quieter you will love it keep that cool air off u I'm in fla does same only rids heat.
The story behind that bridge is one that everyone needs to read. 😎👍👍
Beautiful!!
I can highly recommend the Aluma MC210 motorcycle trailer. I can carry up to three bikes, two with ease. The stowed/pull-out full-width ramp is effortless and the thing only weighs 600lbs. Everyone needs a solid motorcycle trailer, buy quality and buy once, cry once.
I’m looking at the MC10…? Smaller version of the MC210… with a smaller tow vehicle I’m trying to stay lightweight as possible! Yes indeed, buy once, cry once! Thanks for watching!
@@ridingthethinlines I started out thinking I was going to buy the MC10 as well but when I got a deal on the 210 for just a few shekels more I couldn't pass up the upgrade. The only drawback to the 210 is it's width when it comes to trying to fit it in a single width garage door. Nevertheless, I highly recommend the trailer, three years with it now and it has been amazing, one hell of a warranty and customer service as well.
I feel ya, i have the pan america but decided i did not want to have to pick it up so i got a husky 701.......way better for offroad lol
good lunch and conversation the other day!
That Jay Oh Bee thing sucks!!
Great little meander on the BRP! Awesome you have the Rabaconda now. With a bit of practice, maybe there won’t be any tubes destroyed in the future!😂😂😂😂😂 I’m glad you like the new tires, now we just have to take a long ride and put some more miles on them!!
Glad you’re ok. It happens man! Lucky you had good boots. I had cheap adventure boots on last year when I took a spill and broke my ankle. So now I wear motocross boots. Keep having fun!
its been almost 7 weeks now, seems like a broken ankle would have healed by now... I must have done a number on my ligaments and tendons. Hopefully soon I'll be back on the dirt and gravel!
no heated grips on the AT? lol. other than that it looked like good riding!
No heated grips, not on the AT standard. Would have been helpful that day!
I’ve went across the skyway with snow on it. Kinda sketchy on a motorcycle 😬👍
Not the best time to ride the Cherohala for sure! But the beautiful views never disappoint!
Way to go rocket man 😂
Skill! It takes skills! I do it right because I do it twice!
Lots of baby powder or Silicone spray on the tube will help from pinching the tube. 👊
👍👍
looks pretty crowded for sure! And Dang! Looks cold too!!!!
Only when you unzip the sleeping bag!!! Not too bad!
A lot of people there for sure looking like a good ride my friend
Good times 🤙
looks like they were packed
Lots of people for sure! First time I attended! Think I will go back next year! Got to meet a lot of great folks!
Haha!! Love the side notes on dental floss and toilet paper!😂
Laid mine down in a slimy low water bridge crossing, and my altrider crash bars broke on the left side and cracked my side cover. Ended up buying a new cover.
On an Africa Twin? That sucks, the research I did had me believe that the AltRider was quality! Hope you are repaired and back on the road!
How did you get back on the good side of wife so she would let you go riding again? 👍👍
glad it wasn't any worse than just a sprain. Rear we wear these types of boots
sucks that road was closed
Glad there’s no serious damage to you or the bike! The ground has definitely gotten harder over the years. Wish someone would look into that!
I need a haircut too
Haha! No more haircuts!
Don't sweat it man... we all make mistakes. In 6 months it will be but a distant memory
I went down about a year ago and the bike bounced off my leg. Caused swelling and than a nasty hematoma and bruising.
It’s no fun when the bike starts riding you! 😢
Asphalt hurts when you hit it. Bet the wife chewed you pretty bad. 😂 Glad nothing is broken and bikes can be fixed or bought by insurance companies 😎👍
Luckily it wasn’t asphalt, and he was very lucky nothing broke. The bike just has a bit more “character” now!😂😂
You sir are correct! The wife was none too happy with me!!! However after 37 years she kinda expects some of my foolishness to catch up with me!😂😂😂
Glad it wasn't worse! Now the bike has more "personality" and patina.
Right!?!
So sorry that happened! Glad it wasn't worse.
It could have been worse, Happy it wasn’t!!
These two Gents right here really make riding fun and provide honest advise. stay safe and ride on!
Thanks AB!!!
Seriously, I’m glad it wasn’t worse, and that you and the bike are just fine. A few scratches, and a slight bend in the crash bars just turned it into a true ADV bike!!
If you’re going to be dumb, you better be tough! Too soon?😂😂😂😂
Nah! There will be more opportunities… just a matter of time!🤣
@@ridingthethinlines I’m trying to bite my tongue, just a little, because I know it’ll be me , probably sooner rather than later!😂😂😂
Crashing sucks but I'm glad you're ok.
Thanks! Just some character marks and bumps and bruises!
dang, glad your good to go, i have klim adv boots, and i keep looking at motocross boots.......i'm not gonna lie, i was cracking up at your buddy trying to keep from laughing, because that is exactly what would happen to me with my friends LOL
Yes sir, if you ride with friends long enough, the opportunity is there to make fun of each others poor choices! Once you know they are ok of course! 😂😂😂
I thought I did ok keeping the laughter in!!😂😂
@@ridingthethinlinesexactly!! me and my friends are pretty rough on each other lol
@@Motoramblingsyou did!!! I was cracking up!
@@Eds_PanAm 😂😂😂
Get a bigger Hammer!
Hang in there and you'll get it. At least you're straight and still good to go. 👊
