In the fall of 1961 our family came stateside on vacation from Nome Alaska. The purchased a Piper Pacer in Montana and flew it to visit grandparents in Florence Oregon and then to Fairbanks. When they got to Fairbanks the rest of the faily met them there and I traded with mom. I flew with dad to Kotzebue due to avoid a weather front that was coming thru and then to Nome.

Beautiful scenery and music, but why do you have subtitles? Why can’t you have a narrator? You're discriminating against people like us who can't see very good. I am an older man with failing eyesight. I don't think you'll loose viewership if you narrate it.

What a wonderful adventure. As my Dad used to say he was a pilot “when sex was safe and flying was dangerous “. No iPad, no ForeFlight. The wx was what you could see or get from the next FSS.

7:17 It's amazing to think that you took this footage "only" 20 years before Mt. St. Helens erupted and it's now 43 years after it erupted! And I remember the eruption as if it were yesterday. A thin layer of ash covered our yard in Seattle. We collected some and put it in a jar. Thanks for sharing these neat films. I spent some time in Alaska in 1975 when my father was working on the pipeline project. Loved it there.

Most of those planes outside are now inside and better restored. The B-36 is a different one now the other was scrapped instead of trying to move. The real rarity is that early B-52. I wish they saved that. But up thru the very early 70s those planes were still outdoors and of course people would mess with them a bit. And thus a rainy day was not a good day to go then. That old museum was first a base exchange.

Flew my Tripacer with my Dad, up and back in 1989.

We live in NW Ohio but I've mentioned to my wife since she loves to use her camera that we need to come to Ashtabula County and photograph some of these bridges. Maybe 2023's the year.

Enjoyed your video you got some great footage. Made the trip many times, tried the trench once, a great flight but very remote and pushing the range on that pacer. Flew the cassiar a few times another great flight. Had to land on the hwy near the koidern River cause of weather, back then the trees were very close to road, never so proud of those short wings. I remember buying av gas in Canada at 39 cents for an imperial gallon , the good old days.
