Our code C730 ($30 off) is applicable to the C7 series (C7, C7 Max, and C7 Pro Max). Kevin is using a black C7 Max.
In this video, we provide context LTT missed in their recent "Raytracing is Now Mandatory" ideo. We address three overly praised titles and discuss the real definition of optimization.
We then bridge the connection between profits and optimization and end the poor excuse regarding how optimization is too expensive to provide in modern development. We then address the real issues with AI and ray tracing and define the problems with corporate graphic solutions.
We are here to provide the PROOF for gamers and guide developers about the modern issues with how realism is being destroyed by poor shader designs, workflows and false narratives. Drop us a 👍's up & subscribe, and watch the whole video without skipping to KEEP the UA-cam algorithm on our side! Thank you!

Outlets like LTT tend to make such claims because they never *really* play games. They only test them, extract the numbers and bounce. They're unable to scrutinize things (like image quality for instance) properly since they don't really spend the time and attention on these titles like a consumer would. Games are only data gathering tools for them.

Yeah I've noticed this for awhile now. New tech to replace the use of proper indepth work. It's like when Microsoft fired the Qa for Windows. Most companies create the problems they're supposed to fix or solve. I definitely play a lot of older games. Some look, feel and play great. Stuff like Half Life 2 looks nice to me still. Though it's subjective. Hopefully this will get better. If not that's okay. There's plenty of old games. Stuff I will never complete in several life times. Would recommend people go back and play stuff they missed out on.

personally, especially as someone with a higher refresh rate monitor who cares significantly about the latency of games, the industry standard of "1080p 60fps" should NOT be the end all goal for optimizing a game. 1080p 60fps in the modern day, in my personal opinion, should be reserved for the more "mid-tier" or average cards of their generation such as 60's and 70's nvidia gpus. i'm on a (1080p) 180hz monitor, and the fact that on my 4070 super OC i hardly hit my refresh rate in modern, or last gen games is one of the most frustrating experiences in the world. you might think bringing the fps target up would make developers rely on things like dlss or frame gen more, but i think these technologies are so bad at what they do they will be forced to find a real solution to all these problems, because there will be a point that gamers stop accepting these types of optimizations due to the quality they produce. and even if that isn't the case, i think a higher fps goal may mitigate the problems with these technologies if developers need to optimize ON TOP OF dlss/fg in order to reach that higher target, since the higher framerates make higher quality ai-frames. death stranding, control, metro exodus, and helldivers are all good examples of games that feel like they should be running smoothly, near my refresh rate, especially when i'm lowering graphics quality, or turning off things like RTing, but often miss the mark by anywhere from 50-100 fps. why can't a game from 4 years before my card was made run at even twice the framerates it was supposedly aiming for, when my card is supposed to be almost twice as powerful as the ones at the time? it's probably because the card's at the time hit the 60fps goal, but not much further, and so these new cards are still all but struggling with the rendering while nvidia focuses on more ai-implementation and limit's the card's abilities even further by allocating more chip space to the npu instead of more vram or cuda cores. i think a better industry standard demanding that the highest tier cards (80's and especially 90's) should be hitting 1080p @ 144fps would leave more room for those lower tier cards to hit that 1080p @ 60fps goal, and give future cards an easier time rendering older titles. but all the things i've said are things pertaining to pc gaming, and the people who ultimately need to be calling out these optimization issues are the console gamers, as oftentimes developers aim towards whatever the newest console is with either a 60 or 30fps target. if console gamers demanded a 60fps minimum i think pc gaming optimization could reach higher potential for the same reason that there would be a force pushing dev's and manufacturers towards finding new solutions that have less visual cost. those are my opinions though, and im interested in hearing others! i'm not sure i would consider myself the average in terms of what i expect out of my games/pc, so hearing what people on more average setups/expectations think would be insightful for me!

Software rasterization. The main performance killers of Nanite's system is the culling and shadows. There is potential is in SW raster but the current approaches throw out the benefits of 4/4 quad rendering.

Late to the party but its such a straw man argument people always pull with the if you can't do it yourself you can't have an opinion, I'm willing to bet every penny I own that those same people have opinions on things they can't do, art, sports, film, writing etc etc. If someone has to resort to that very argument then that person isn't worth wasting the breath needed to debunk the thought process

Well amd needs to beat nvidia, nvidia wants to beat amd, amd follows and paywalls it so it can join the party, nvidia is paywalling everything they see on a gpu, i wouldnt be suprised when game requires you to have 2k cuda cores to run it, and they wont care if your gpu will run it, money matters

Nvidia loves money, and with money you can make better hardware (that was in 2016), today lets paywall frame gen for rtx 40 series, just so you know you can calculate what the 40 series calculates in the tensor cores by hand, tell me why its paywalled, you can calculate ray formula by hand, why paywall it, 3 decades ago cpus did ray tracing but today no you need a rtx card, remember 3060 is 10% slower than 1080ti but 3060 supports rt, a faster gpu doesnt

Thank you for fighting these big corporations. Games take up over 100gb in most cases, even for racing games like Dirt Rally 2.0, EA WRC. Are they doing this to make us think the game is bigger in terms of content? And at the same time forcing the need to buy more storage.. What is going on? We pay more and more for both games and hardware and need to buy new hardware again and again. But the experience of playing games, seems to stay the same or even goes down.

I can't tell if you're talking to devs or consumers, since I'm at least the latter for at least 2 decades if not 3, and I'm a student in game dev right now (diploma level, so stupid new and have not done lighting or optimisation yet) I have to assume it's devs because most of what you're saying is completely lost on me. I know my games look shit and I don't understand why, to me TAA seems to look better until I move and that's the extent of what I know. It's clear you know what you're looking at or for, but I don't have time to comprehend any of your examples before noticing or looking for things, and then they're gone before I've even read the text on them (please stop doing that, just explain each example say "look how the lighting on the door does this!" <swap filters or whatever> "Now notice how light leaks here" <swap back and forth again> "also over here you can tell direction" <swaps> what you're doing right now sounds like a manifesto over video footage and is disconnected). Reading text over your technical explanations is really hard to do while trying to focus on the picture as well, I am rewinding and pausing these a LOT. I don't mean this to come across harsh, perhaps I am just an outlier who's super stupid and no one else has issues understanding this at all. From my perspective though, if you want to inform consumers like you say you do then you have to change the format of these videos because they aren't educating me or helping me understand. Is there like some kind of catch up video that explains basics I missed or something? I dunno I'm just so lost, which sucks because what I can gather sounds like your cause is just and is something I want to be a part of, understand better, and help further in any way I can (especially if Unreal is building for one of their own games specifically which is BS in itself) but I can't follow the information completely so I'm probably not going to watch further videos because it's too far over my head.

We're a species of neglect... I'd say your expectations are as crazy as the things you're exposing. 😐 Humanity, perpetually running around in circles. Constantly producing problems only to attempt to solve them, calling it a success. We LITERALLY create the vast majority of our problems, OURSELVES! 😬 Humanity is currently a dreadfully immature species, and looking around; It doesn't seem like we're all too concerned with dealing with that situation. No, everyone is either too busy trying to [clean up] the bs that WE create, or they're literally just [living life] as though the responsibility is going to magically be taken care of. As though a better world is just going to magically fall from the sky one day. The level of insanity there is baffling! We are it, that's all there is and everyone is just... Ignoring it. Pretending like [society] is equal to [humanity], which is simply not true! 🤦 As long as humanity remains immature and THE source of its own issues; bullshit is guaranteed. It's just a matter of time and other variables. But shit WILL happen. At this point, you're all just collectively [farming the bullshit]. Year after year, generation after generation. I'd love to be way more colorful, but there's a chance this comment will already be flagged by the pathetic censorship situation... 😐

11:30 Why would you transition a subtle difference between those 2 images? The transition made it very hard to see the difference. Human eyes are very sensitive to sudden changes in light intensity. Transitioning the change smoothly prevents that mechanism from taking effect. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QAeGaj5fsEFetdxtlRAMIxRDT3e_hnkF Here I made a proper comparison. The GIF and WEBP are just the PNG screenshots combined in looping animation that displays them with no transition. Looking for a while at such animation will reveal all the artifact that you are talking about. The "Screenshot difference" is simple euclidean difference in RGB color space between corresponding pixels of the two screenshots. Unfortunately, I think that it does not show anything meaningful probably because of YT compression algorithm. But I left it because maybe someone will make sense of it. Side sad fact: WEBP image file format was developed by Google but it is displayed incorrectly (with dithering artifacts) in their built in viewer on Google Drive. If you want to display the WEBP animation correctly download it and display it locally. I've included WEBP version because it does not have 8-bit per channel limitation as GIF so the image looks better. OKish way to achieve the effect of sudden change is also to change between PNG screenshots manually with keyboard arrows even in Google Drive viewer. But for better results I suggest downloading the PNGs and trying the manual animation in a local program. The best way to present a difference between 2 images is always a sudden change between many times in a span of few seconds. You hardly use this technique but it would make many of your evidence more convincing to the average viewer. Please consider my advice. I, as well, want the best for the gaming industry and convincing presentation of the evidence is the way forward to achieve our goal.
