@@Drew8va Other? LOL You don't HAVE a "pedagogical perspective" because you are just plain wrong in regard to respiration as applied to flute playing. Happy that we got that out of the way. You are simply regurgitating misunderstandings that have plagued woodwind and brass circles for decades as very few people have the courage to call the "gurus" on their BS. Spreading such info causes much more damage than not sharing any information. I don't give free lessons, but I will leave you with this to ponder, young grasshopper... "You can play in spite of it but not because of it."

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I'm so sorry you feel that way, but I do understand how it can be frustrating to hear someone instruct in a way that differs from your own. I also have ways I teach that are different than my very own flute teachers and other flutists I respect highly! Although, I am glad that you have found a way that works for you and your students. If ever in the future you upload videos of yourself performing live as a soloist with piano or orchestra, I would love to see it so I can observe your technique! I'm sure there might be a new perspective for me to understand.

@@Drew8va You are not understanding and attempting to establish yourself as an authority. I am telling you that you are simply wrong. Respiration as applied to woodwind/brass playing is a VERY complex subject that requires decades of study. As I indicated before, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

@@songandwind72 Once again, you attempt to disprove my instruction without offering or suggesting an alternative. I've kindly asked for your explanation again and again, but your only rebuttal is "you're wrong." I'm am respectfully trying to understand you, but you provide nothing to understand with. In my past 16-17 years of teaching music nearly everyday so far, I have a very long history of students that have won prestigious auditions and earned VERY nice scholarships at the music conservatories they've gone off to. I'd like to think by this point, my instruction has been helpful as evidence has shown over and over. However, even with this, I'm still wanting to learn more, thus asking you your thoughts on air support and breathing. If your only response is going to be "you're wrong," then we can just end our conversation here. I'm so sorry that this instructional video has offended you enough to respond like that. If you look at my introduction video, I explain that this is just how I teach, and if you disagree, that's totally fine. Have an awesome day!
