EFI In-Tank Fuel Pump Conversion - Mitsubishi Triton / Mightymax / L200 / 4g54
Here’s a sneaky upgrade ive done to my old Triton. Convert the stock suction tube tank pickup to a performance high pressure 255LPH in tank pump. Tank itself is unmodified. There are no baffles in the tank so some consideration must be used at very low fuel levels, but I think it should be fine at 1/4 tank or above.
Pump is specced to flow up to 500 horsepower ish. Set up for 4G54 turbo, blow through Weber.
Cheers.

ButtCam Shovelhead Chopper Ride - Jockey Shift, Foot Clutch, Rigid, Springer
Переглядів 1,2 тис.4 роки тому
May 2020. Around 8 degrees through the Adelaide hills. A rather frustrating end to this ride with a flat front tyre in Oakbank. Attempting a GoPro side mount off the sissy bar - Too wobbly and too much vibration.
Harley Shovel Chopper Hills Ride. Rigid, 9-over Springer, Jockey Shift
Переглядів 6 тис.5 років тому
Riding my homebuilt 1974 74” Shovel chopper through the foothills of Adelaide, South Australia. This is the first proper ride since I fitted my homebuilt narrow springer, so am still building up my confidence with it. It’s superb so far. Mid July and the middle of winter, still beautiful weather at around 18C, but a bit windy. Filmed with GoPro Hero5, nice video but the audio is truly terrible....
Truck Arm Radius Rods Test on Hotrod Chassis
Переглядів 4508 років тому
I made this movie when I was testing my radius rod suspension design for my hotrod chassis. The car is now on the road and the system is working perfectly. The OEM “Truck Arm” setups from Chevy rely on c-channel arms for flex during articulation. I instead decided to use 2”x1/8” square tube and used a large rubber bushing at the front end. The bushing was recycled from a Toyota Corolla control ...
Hi guys, my triton 2.5 has low pressure on fuel system, will the electric pump help?
Please please do a vehicle show and tell and update I'm currently trying to build on manifold is at the machine shop have installed 15 psi external pump but can't get the malpasi regulator to bring the psi down lower than 9psi (pre turbo) I was thinking my return line wasn't big enough to free flow the fuel back to the tank should I just drop the tank and increase the size of the fuel return as my pump is external ? Or just upgrade the whole tank to the mk tank ?
One day I’ll get around to doing a full video, car is always evolving.. If you can’t drop pressure low far enough, that could mean the return is to restrictive. Could test that by running a hose from the reg return straight into a jerry can, removing any restriction and see what happens. My setup is EFI now and runs 43psi (3Bar) base fuel pressure with a Turbosmart reg
Please show more of this build ?
Nice ride!!
Man what a ride. Surely one of the best ride videos I've seen. While sitting here in Indiana u.s.a. being really bmed about the winter weather, this is what I needed. How's the bike doing these days ? Do you still own it ?
Hello, thankyou so much for the kind words. I will never sell it but other projects have been taking up most of my time lately. Just to tease, this ride was in the middle of our winter! It is usually quite dry and the winter sun is glorious for riding in just a good jacket and jeans. Thanks
Thank you for posting! You've got it perfect, in my book. Would you mind sharing the rake/trail numbers?
Thanks! Not sure on figures, mostly built by eye. I think frame is about 35* rake, rockers are copied from OE harley dimensions. Quite a lot of trail. Rides great but springs are a bit soft. Holding up perfect ~3 years later, done about 4000km on it.
Beautiful bike! Is it pretty easy to get into neutral?
Thanks - yes easy. Becomes very natural.
Update a year on. This setup is working perfectly even without baffling. I try to keep the fuel level over 1/3rd tank, and avoid hard driving if it’s below. If you’re removing the tank to do similar, I’d suggest just getting an MJ EFI tank that might already have baffling. The tanks / chassis mounts appear the same but I have not compared directly. Cheers
Did you have to take the tray/tub off to remove the tank?
If you have a tray, you will probably be OK. With a tub you’ll need to drop the tank out, but this is just 4 bolts and a few hoses. Make sure car is jacked up high enough to slide the tank out!!
@@Victorsadventures2774 you are a legend, thank you! I have a tub, so that info is great. I have an EFi setup and ran out of fuel at the top end so a better in tank pump like this is the fix I was after!
@@ChadCroft no worries!! This is still a blow through carb but is making good power. Also going to EFI soon and have plenty of pump there ready to go.
Are you running the original 4g54 motor?
@@ChadCroft built and fully balanced 4g54, balance shafts removed. ARP head studs and Rod bolts. Dished hyper-eutectic pistons with about 8:1 CR. Currently 190hp/450nm at the wheels with Weber and locked distributor at 20 degrees advanced. 98 pump fuel. I will do a video on the car one day. It will go much better with proper fuel and timing control.
Just waiting for something to pull out one of those blind turns no where to go!!!
Pretty good here, these roads are popular with motorcyclists. Much better than riding in the city..
Beautiful bike. Thanks for the video, It looks like a fun & relaxing jaunt........
The one at the ride most side is the floater right?
Yes, tank ports in order from left to right are , Pickup/return lines, filler neck, sending unit/float.
Awesome setup, will be doing this to my MJ 2wd when I do an efi turbo setup
Thanks! It’s been working fine, and I don’t expect any issues really.
FYI an MK triton 2.4 rwd tank fits into an MJ triton 2.6 rwd. No mods required if vehicle is fitted with a tray
@@michaelfabris645 Awesome, that’s pretty cool info. Do the MK tanks have a baffled pickup? Thanks
Thanks mate, saves me running a surge tank and external pumps
Hayden You’re welcome. This setup is running and driving now. If you are using EFI then no problems. I had to swap over the feed/return lines to get fuel pressure down low enough for the Weber carb. The 6mm return line was restricting fuel flow and creating too much pressure out of the regulator. Not having any tank baffling obviously isn’t ideal, just something to keep in mind if you need to run the fuel level really low. Cheers
@@Victorsadventures2774 thanks mate. Just in the process of converting my 4g54 to efi and making sure I have everything sorted before I tackle it!
Hayden no worries. I will be going EFI in the future as well, this pump is overkill for a blow through carb setup so I’m moving a bunch of fuel around without benefit. However it will be good with the EFI setup, I just didn’t want to re do the tank setup twice. Cheers
Именно то, что искал. Спасибо
Awesome. Love it!
Putting the old chop through it's paces, love it!
Pretty sure I follow you on insta! springer looks like it's working a dream!
Rhys Moreton cheers mate! One day I dream to ship this to UK and do a europe trip. Take care 👍🏻
