We ALL love The Great Out There. The Great Out There channel is the intersection between all types of camping and outdoor adventures. Regardless of how you got to The Great Out There, when we are boondocking and enjoying outdoor adventures we share the same motivations. We all experience the magnetism of natural wonders.
Minocqua to Marshfield, WI Gravel Biking | Priority 600ADX Bikepacking
Late September and UNUSUALLY warm (75 degrees!) After visiting family for the weekend in Minocqua, WI I took a gravel route home to Marshfield, WI.
The route was just shy of 125 miles, with about 80% of the distance on gravel roads - including the Bearskin Trail between Minocqua and Tomahawk.
I left after noon on Sunday and biked through the northern forests to Tripoli, WI for snacks and water resupply. Then I rode about 15 miles south into the Lincoln County forest to camp for the night.
I only needed a tarp as no rain was in the forcast and tmeperatures were mild. I planned a no-cook menu for supper and breakfast - so no stove was packed. Just my sleeping pad, quilt, and some warm clothes for the morning riding.
Monday morning I continued south through the forst. After crossing Hwy 64, the terrain opens to mixed farmlands. By noon I arrived in Athens, WI for more snacks, water, and Gatorade! Then it was a mix of gravel and paved county roads home to Marshfield.
I arrived mid-afternoon, completing the 123 mile route. My ride for this trip was the new Priority Bicycles 600ADX.
The 600ADX is the second-generation bikepacking machine - with a 12-speed Pinion sealed gear transmission and a carbon fiber Gates belt drive.
I have now owned several Pinion-drive bikes and the new 600ADX is the best! A few tweaks to the frame geometry with added stiffness and an improved suspension fork were noticable. Bikepacking is not a speed test, but depends on the bike being soild, comfortable, and efficient for hour after hour of loaded travel.
For this short trip, I only carried a light duffel on the handlebars (supported by a Lone Peak harness) and a stuff sack on the rear rack that contained my sleeping pad, quilt, and extra clothes. I had previously outfitter the 600ADX with a modified rear rack, frame bag (with internal frame mounts), water bottle mounts on the forks, and "feed bags" on the handlebars.
In total I carried FOUR water bottles - refilled at the stop in Tripoli. After a supper in camp the night before, I ate a succession of breakfast and protein bars, cold brewed coffee, along with my water supply. I arrived in Athens after 30 miles of rolling hills nearly out of water. (The water bottle that I carried inside the frame bag contains a filter which allows me to refill all the bottles from any clear stream along the route.)
I have now logged several hundred miles on the 600ADX - after previously owning the original Priority 600X Adventure. I can testify to the improvements in the frame, components, fork, and wheels. This bike is not intended to be a competitve downhill mountain bike. The bombproof drivetrain combined with the easy rolling 29er wheels and tubeless tires (requires conversion by the owner) makes the Priority 600ADX the ultimate bikepacking machine!

Do you consider this bike to be on par with Honda build quality? Where is it made?
With the upsizing did you need to adjust anything like brakes or fenders? Getting a used metero with 6.5k on stock tires and Ill be replacing them soon. Thanks
Spot on. I have a 2019 Hawk 250 with near 20,000 miles on it, but a large majority of the parts I've replaced on it have been from the TT250. If you want a reliable, carbureted bike that won't break the bank, the TT250 is definitely the way to go.
Absolutely. Parts availability is a non-issue. There are plenty of places for generic parts that fit these bikes - plus many upgrades from sources like CSC. These motors were originally designed for markets where they get ZERO maintenance - and are the ONLY source of transportation!
@@thegreatoutthere yes sir! There’s a fellah on UA-cam that has over 30,000 miles on his TT250 and she still keeps chugging along. I have personally interacted with a guy on FB that had over 90,000 original miles on his Hawk’s CG engine (!). He replaced the engine at 90,000 and hasn’t looked back. Great value for the $!

No you can NOT afford one...as the Wolf is not available in the US for a while. Besides, just as with the Honda CT 125, if and/or when these are available for sale in the US, most of the people that buy one will start bitching about how low powered and slow they are and want to get rid of the one they bought. And why in God's name would you start putting fuel/oil additives into a brand new engine??? I'd be willing to bet that would void any warranty if something bad were to happen with the engine...If you can even get warranty on those. Then try to get it after it gets fixed...

You can't top the Valley of the Gods. This keeps being considered for another Federal Park - but that would only ruin the wide open access!

I hate to admit it, but as long as the Chinese keep cranking out bikes for a reliable, realistically priced bike without all the gouging and BS, I’m not having another Japanese bike - at least a new one…Wanted to get back into a little 250 dual sport for commuting and to take on the hitch camping when we go and the prices on the Japanese bikes were just ridiculous now for a little 250. I wound up going with a kpx250 from Lifan and I’m absolutely loving it. A cheap bike you actually don’t mind using and repairing if needed rather than feeling like you’ve wrecked a Mercedes on the trail…

What point a kick start if the fuel needs electric for the injector? Yet to see someone kick start an electronically fuel injected bike with a flat battery.
Actually, as long as the circuit is open, you can start these bikes. I have also bump started a FI bike with a dead battery. Apprently, the tiny amount of fuel in the line is enough to start the motor.
