Bro I finally found this video after i dont know how long of looking for a viable solution to mites. I dont have a ton of rodents but i breed more than a few reptiles so i raise my own feeders. This is the second time we've had mites and the 1st time we lost them all before we even knew what it was. Been using ivermectin diluted down which worked amazingly on reptile mites when we had those but not so much on rodent mites. The DE though is what i was needing. You're awesome dude. Pine and Cedar is absolutely not good for rats i had to change it because my boys we're getting sick. I clean the cage every 1-2 days so it's not the cage or food. when i switched to apsen they started to actually stay on the bottom most of the time now they seem happier as well. I understand some things my be cheaper, but for the safety of the rats, it is better to get cardboard ,paper bedding (dust free of course), or Aspen shaving. There's a couple different things. You can get that are okay for them. But I'm more worried about health than price.

Diatomaceous from diatoms, not diatRomaceous, nor is it permethErin but permethrin. DE has what is essentially microscopic shards of glass that cut into the exoskeleton. Hes saying its just chalky and dries them up, lol. Also he can have visitors step on a wet soapy mat to kill mites and even use a disinfectant.

Don’t recommend cedar. It’s basically toxic to rodents. It’s very difficult on them. Just because they’re food doesn’t mean people should treat them poorly.
