Yeah, I was also surprised when I heard 1965 stereo mix, it was different to what I used to hear... Also there's a tape droput in right channel around 1:50.
As the protagonist drives away from her apartment he knows in his heart it is truly over this time and since drowning his sorrows isn't an option the next best thing is to go home, dust off his old record player and record collection, put on this song and blast it into the wee hours of the morning.

This song was first released in 1965 as a 45 single. It appeared on "Blonde on Blonde" about a month later. The release as a 45 RPM was in mono, as all 45's were. I am pretty sure "Blonde on Blonde" was in stereo though. I was 15 then and it was my introduction to Dylan. I had some catching up to do since BoB was his 7th studio album. My Dylan education was given to me by a good friend of mine. I don't think I ever properly thanked him. Thanks Don, wherever you may be.
Blonde On Blonde was released in 1966 in May I think...And yes, Blonde On Blonde was released in stereo album version, this is the album stereo version. I hope you enjoyed this video...😄
