I have been building and wheeling XJs for 23 years, I have owned over 30 XJs, a MJ I still miss everyday, one amazing 59 CJ5, 2 IH scouts (800A and a Scout 2) , I've wheeled Xjs on 30/44 locked, to my current XJ on tons/Atlas/38s/caged.
I love my 2020 Wrangler JLUR for camping, and easy wheeling and it's a DD. It's been a nightmare as far as steering wander and
death wobble, but luckily I've been fixing and diagnosing those things for over 20 years, just not so lucky on my bank account .
I love my FSJ wagoneer that I restored, its almost too pretty to wheel, and that's why she hasn't even wheeled yet, although I've put maybe 2000 hours into restoring it over the last 5+ years.
I really want one of the new Broncos someday. I think they are super rad.
I am obsessed with camping gear, not the fancy expensive stuff, but just in general camping gear what works for cheap, I log my gear for every trip
I started camping at the age of 5 in my dads awesome 79 K5 Blazer.

Snow Wheeling Season is here in California | Wentworth Springs | Happy Thanksgiving
We went on a Sunday Day run hoping to find snow on Wentworth springs road between Uncle Toms and Hartless pass, but instead we had to drive way past airport flat towards Mckinstry lake to find decent snow. It's still super early in the year, so not terribly surprising, but was hoping for snow sooner in the day. It took a while to find half decent snow.

Broken Frame nut repair with Rivnuts / nutserts. Jeep Cherokee XJ rear bump stops.
Переглядів 704 години тому
I repaired some broken weld nuts inside the rear frame rail on my jeep Cherokee XJ which did not have any bumpstops at all. I drilled them out, air hammered them out, and then got the rivnuts nutserts into the frame rail. Good times. Rad times. The best of times. Now I have bumpstops, and the world can rejoice . Good video man, we reallllly need to go wheel together soon. An Instalanding trip!
Thanks dude ! Yeah we really do need to get out there and do something
Maybe take both our new to us fords somewhere
I do not like shelf roads either! That is a beautiful place!
Especially in icy snow with the rear end constantly trying to slide down hill ! Ha! But it was beautiful! Everything else is life seems easy after a fun day run like that!

Five degrees is too much. You only want the pinion down two degrees. Axle wrap will correct the driveline angle when driving to point the pinion inline with the t-case output shaft.
@@marka.2715 I run my 14b around 4-5* and its perfect on road. Heavy axles, high torque from the stroker, softer leaves, they wrap like crazy. I always do around 3* but sometimes if it ends up at 3-5* o just leave it depending on how soft the rear is, and how much I load it down when wheeling

Hey there! I hope our Super Roll helps keep your tools secure and organized in your Jeep!
So far so good
i just pull the t-stat out of every XJ i own. they say not to but it worked every time so far.
I usuallt do a 180 t stat, efan on a properly wired bypass switch , and make sure the fan clutch works

There was supposed to be music after 14:25. I have no idea how I deleted it, there was music there before I exported, but I just checked, and it's gone. Ugh. Not reuploading that's for sure. 60GB file took 14 hours to upload in 4K. Anyone care if it's 4K or 1080p? Anyone even notice?
Such good information. Thank you soo much. I am soon planning a trip for next year, hopefully.
@@TJY2K thats awesome! I hope it helps!
Ive got like 3 other Rubicon videos, and one is a commonly asked questions for first timers that talks about alot of stuff that most people Dont cover
@@blondejon83 i watched it already lol
@@TJY2K oh rad awesome!!!!
My autistic ass was panicking when it saw the App Store between Numbers and Pages 😭😭😭 BTW, the thumbnails are fire!
Well thank you!!!!
So awesome to see you being able to get back out and wheel again. Don't know what you're doing differently to ward off the migraines but glad you're doing better.
Not sure either. The sinus surgery did help a ton, but I still get migraines . I actually barely made it home saturday before one hit, but hey I got to get out and wheel a small part of the Rubicon with a little snow on it and eat lunch at the lake, so it was a good day
Hard to tell from the video, do you move the digital angle finder to the passenger side for passenger side measurements or do you always leave it on the same place on the differential? If you move it, where do you put it on the passenger side? If you don't move it how can you distinguish passenger side from driver side caster measurements?
Same place. Basically i found the offset of the angle of the diff that correlates to the perpendicular line through the ball joints. I did find a forum post somewhere that validated it too.
Trying this now on my 23 JL Rubicon. I have synergy adjustable lower control arms with pinch bolts. I have to do this in my driveway that is sloped. Putting the angle finder on the driveway shows 3.8° driveway slopes up closer to the house lower toward the street and the Jeep is nose in toward the house. I put the angle finder as you did on the flat spot on the diff and it shows 84.1. so this is actually 87.9 if you adjust for the slope of the driveway correct? Now if I add the 6 degrees factory offset does this mean I only have 3.9° of caster?
I think so. Would probably have to see it to understand but that sounds about right. If you indeed have 3.8* of caster then it will drive terrible
And this is something I've been trying to do on my jeep for a year. Not a shop will touch it saying my balljoints are bad but theyre 3 months old. Idk what to do.
Where are you located ? You need to find a good 4x4 shop to take it to if you csnt figure it out
@blondejon83 Midwest lol, I've went to tires plus, northern tire, firestone, and a small local place and they all gave me that response. I've been tweaking the tie rod ends and twisting the bar and popping off the ends and turning them. It's driving me insane. But it's my daily so I have to drive it to work and I ride over some nasty beet sludge on a 50mph stretch and I swear I'm going to hit a semi head on one of these mornings. I've dumped or 500$ into the front end in the last 2 weeks trying to help fix things. One guy at a shop even told me since I have aftermarket control arms they won't touch it anywhere. I about lost my cool on that dude. I'm in the process of trying to sell it, but it's not going so well
That all sounds rediculous. Those shops are either lazy, poorly trained, or stupid. Find like a real legit offroad shop. There has to be something within an hour of where you live?
Or if you can find a legit frame straightening shop with a rack they will get it right
Cool vid, I heard you mention you had an issue with migraines. Have you ever heard of NDPH. That’s what I have for almost 2 years now.
Whats NDPH?
Yeah after a bad concussion a few years back I started getting daily migraines. Now its more like weekly instead of daily which is nice, but still sucks big time
New Daily Persistent Headache. I have a headache every single day some days are really really bad. It started with some sort of stomach virus I got, that’s what triggered it. It doesn’t keep me from Wheeling though. It actually makes me sort of forget about it. I’m having a Spinal Stimulator implant put in my neck this month that is supposed to block the pain. The first surgery is temporary to see if it works and if it works, then they put it in permanent. I feel your pain. I live in Truckee hit me up if you ever want to go Wheeling.
@@Jaydacator holy shit. Yeah i had dehabilitating migraines everyday for almost 2 years after my head injury. It crazy to be back on the Rubicon again. Im in colfax. Ill be heading into tahoma tomorrow for a work day on the Rubicon
@@blondejon83 No way, I will be there tomorrow to. See you then.

Great video and well spoken
Thank you! I appreciate that
You guys don't stop at beer tree?
Probably half the time we stop at beer tree, probably less over the years. Depends on where we are going and how much time we have, and how large the group.
@@blondejon83 I've only run the Rubicon about 40 times and I've never stopped at the Beer Tree. Hmmm... many more spots that are better to drink said beer, like where there is a view. 😎 Edit: 12:20 Second gear just send it, it's fine!
Sweet! I also like day trippin into Rubicon from the same way. Or starting at loon and going back out the way you came. Sometimes we will go all the way to little sluice and come back out or camp there. So many options in such a great place
Yeah its perfect for quick trips. We actually went back a few weeks ago and went in loon and out wentworth . So ill be posting that video soon.
Needs more cowbell.
Ive got a fever, and the only prescription, is more cowbell. Really take your time to explore the studio space.
Loved the video! I did have to play with the sound a bit, your voice was low in parts and the music was kinda high.
I know. I needed to spend more time with the audio mixing. I got to a point where I couldnt edit it anymore and just posted it. I have more to learn even after a year a doing videos. Plus trying to make a half sensible video from 5 hours of footage, I just get burnt out sometimes. But I agree with you 100%.
Im still using a jackery 300 for 2-3 night trips and the jackery 500 for 3-7 night trips. Works awesome. The spare 300 also powers the 12v fridge for 2 nights. I now have 3- jackery 300s ive bought on sale, and use all 3, one for cpap, One for fridge, and one for backup and it works awesome for all my 2-4 night trips.
you should put it in a MJ
Haha probably
How long did it take you to receive that order? I heard that there’s another company that makes a similar kicked. It takes forever to arrive.
This is the second kit from them, both arrived super fast, especially considering they are coming from Canada .
@@blondejon83 any issues? What’s the cost on their kit?
