I absolutely adore the Silly candidates. Such lovers of life! Politics shouldn't be taken too seriously. And politicians shouldn't take them too seriously. There was a famous poet here in Finland (he's now deceased) who was asked to be an election candidate for the Social Democrat Party. He was to give the party his final decision on candidacy by the next morning at 10AM. Next morning at 9:55 his friend, a famous author himself who later talked about this, called the poet, and asked if has he already made the decision. What decision?, asked the poet, confused.

If only our modern elections were this sensible!

We've had 14 years of a silly, and rather naughty, political party, often called, amongst other things, the Tory Party. The Monster Raving Looney Party, in their 2024 manifesto, came up with something rather sensible... any politician found misbehaving would be sent to Rwanda. Monty Python was ahead of it's time. Sensible parties are now silly, and silly parties are now sensible.

And all of these Silly Party candidates are saner than Liz Truss and Jacob Rees-Mogg
