7:40 I'm playing solo in open-world right now and, funny thing, there's a way to get these beacons for free. :) SMPL3 missions occasionally roll a mission to restore and mark with a beacon an abandoned base (that is made of thatch, so no wonder it got abandoned) and the game doesn't care what you do with that beacon after you place it. So, you can pick it up and place wherever you want after that. Just make sure you don't have one in your backpack when you're starting the next abandoned base mission, or the drop pod with a beacon will land and launch immediately, and the mission will progress to the next phase. Or do, if you want to do them slightly faster.

Nice video. Its important to note that, unless i missed it, you forgot to mention in order to turn murky water to clean water at a campfire, youre going to need a cooking pot first.

16:06 - this is the whole point I find frustrating about this game. All that effort and electricity into your PC for what? There doesn't seem any point in levelling up. There seems to be no reward for all that effort. Shame. It's a beautiful looking game and has some great points but need balancing imho.

It does allow storm damage. It is not consistent by any means. I was set up where it widens out. Maybe 150 meters from mouth of cave. I lost a fabricator, alteration bench and wooden cabinet of iron ore. Gradual damage over time I just never thought to go around and repair because assumed was safe. On upside i used it as a staging ground and built my biggest base at the waterfalls.

few things 1. animal feed is for buffs, generally you want to keep atleast some of your seeds, a more effecient way to feed animals is to just grab the basic crop plot, build 2-4 in any shack and plant a food item (watermelon or corn works best in base game, tomatos are insane if you have the DLC due to ease of drying), using the bone sickle or a workshop one (specifically because they are cheap and not a tech point) to harvest. depending on what you use you'll have plenty to feed animals and yourself if you are going to use seeds for feed for some reason, use a sickle. the bone sickle is cheap and is a massive change in resources gathered 2. get a wolf..or ideally a few wolves, esp once you have the greenhouse up and running they can run defense on almost anything in the game, and in a pack esp once leveled they become monsters (snow wolves are better in arctic, and hyneas are better in desert/hot biomes) alot of difficult missions become trivial (bonus, they act as an easy source of meat and passive exp, as when set to wander and aggressive they'll just casually roam around the base, destroy anything non prey and live the corpse there) in the easier biomes even 1 wolf (once leveled) can easily keep your base and pets safe for you 3. don't bother with the skinning bench, the bone knife works well enough, is repairable via bone and once you get friends (wolves, boars, hyenas) you can let them kill stuff for you and take the loot, the skinning bench is only marginally better than a stone knife, and worse than an iron knife, your returns for the amount of effort to take them back are very...very bad, and once you hit iron or higher you're losing alot of resources by taking them back (and time) on a similar note..if you are going to use the skinning table, use your mount. a basic saddlebag gives them one G spot and a handful of normal slots 4. while you get out of them fairly quickly, even the basic oxite machines are worth it, you use far less oxite and have to gather less even with the basic oxidizer it makes a major difference 5. it's not worth it to bother hacking limbs for sticks, 1 wood = 10 sticks (so 1 stack = 1000 sticks), even with the better axes the return just isn't there as you'll only get ~30 sticks on the top end 6. you can also just use consume stack, it doesn't consume an actual stack but does so until you're full 7. you don't "need" to go to the artic to fill the big res's, both will fill when it rains. it is abit tedious but if you need more water like..now, a good way to start it is to do things like take your 2 buckets in this video and carry it from the river to the thing and manually fill it for later short term use, and then rely on it raining later. eventually you'll want to purify it (sorta, the debuff basically just makes food restore less hunger which is quickly meaningless) seriously though, the biggest gamechanger in the game is getting a wolf or other companion (need cooking bench for animal fat, to kill the respective animals and to allow some meat to spoil, and the snare), they can be leveled rather quickly by babysitting them the first few levels until they start getting heal on kill, then just set to aggressive and slowly go hunting with them. there is little a wolf pack (4, though more can be funny) can't do for you if it involves destroying something there isn't a better base defense than danger puppies, partly because they will just destroy anything (unless they fall in like a river and can't physically get back up due to no nearby pathing area) and partly because anytime you need food, there's probably 3-4 animals laying around waiting to be dinner
