Sri Lankan Law against Cyber Crimes are simply bullshit yall...! I’m a 28 year software engineer who use facebook for more than 10 years. I faced a horrible incident recently where an unknown person was attacking me and my family with abusive comments and adult contents. The profile owner created the posts with my and my family photos in them. It used messanger to get other people to call our personal numbers. As a matter of fact THIS PROFILE IS STILL ATTACKING ME AND MY SISTERS CONTINUESLY. A) I reported facebook with the help of my friends stating that it’s a fake account, harassment, adult content and what not. Result : Facebook doesn’t find them against their community rules even if there is literally my photos and videos theough out the account used as abusive content. 😎 I reported to local police. I found each and every number, person and details I could FOR THE POLICE. Result : We cannot take any action since it is facebook. C) I reported to CID about he whole case. I understood the COVID situation and wrote my issue on few papers and submitted. And I stated that it’s really urgent. Result : after few days I got a letter stating that CID does not handle these kind of cases. And therefore handing over this case to local police. (Fair enough) D) I went to CERT. Hoping for a solution and rest to my daily headaches. Reported the whole incodent. Result : Guess what!!! “If someone is attacking you.. you attack them back”.. this is the reply I got. As for the fake account. CERT cannot remove or take any action regarding these posts or rather any fake account. E) (To be honest, By this time I have lost all my faith in anything on this world.) I wrote a complaint to TRCSL. Not to remove the account or stop messaging people. At least to get the posts removed. Result : Hurrayy!!! Out of 10 posts 3 posts were removed. Bottom line. I’m so happy to be in a safe country like this where cyber crimes are punished severely like this. Thank you... Sri Lankan police CID TRCSL CERT Ohh! And the criminals whoever is attacking me. 🙏🏻😊
