I remember being at this show, and once Listerine played, people were passing joints around the crowd and it was a great time. Best Hippo show I’ve been to!!!

This show was awesome to be at! Thanks for posting so I’ll always get to remember the experience!
Unpopular opinion I'm sure - but as a guy who's loved Hippo Campus since 2015 and has seen them in concert 6+ times, they're 2022 tour performance (which I saw last night) left a lot to be desired. They've began using highly noticeable backing tracks on almost all of their songs. The bass (from the kick drum, back track, and the bass itself) was way too loud (common for pop tours). At one point the whole crowd was chanting "Violet", but they couldn't play it (Jake said so) as they didn't have a back track prepared for it. Don't get me wrong, they're still a great band and put on a great show, but there was a magic to them before they changed their act like this. I struggle to understand their reasoning considering they're all very capable musicians.
Probably not their decision, but the label/record company's. They see that, like you said, loud bass is at all the popular pop shows so why not throw it in here. Same thing with using backing tracks, it reduces risk of error and I doubt these guys had any say in that.
I think they just don’t like playing violet - they did an impromptu sweet child o mine cover a few shows ago so they could definitely do it. Also I don’t hear any backing tracks on the south EP and Landmark songs but that’s not to say they don’t have a click track or something in ears. Also that’s funny about the bass - I thought it was too low in the mix when I saw them in March. That was my 3rd hc show and I thought the live experience was better than the bambi tour
Just saw them in March and thought the show was great but I get your sentiment. Could have to do with them not being as invested into this project anymore possibly. A lot of the songs lyrics are them basically saying how it isn’t fun anymore. Idk maybe just some natural downward progression type shit. Also could be because their musical direction as a whole is way less dynamic instrumentally compared to their older songs.
@@bdcarro I was at said Sweet Child o Mine show and it was INCREDIBLE!
Nothing will be as good as those 2015-2017 projects, I can’t blame ya
I saw them in Columbus a few weeks ago, to go from almost no one knowing them in my life to being surrounded by people screaming the lyrics was absolutely amazing! Thank you for posting this so I can sorta relive that experience!
thank you so much for posting this ♥️
thank u for this
The lead up to “way it goes” what so cool with the crowd
I relive that moment everyday 😭
this was the first concert i went to since the pandemic started. i missed these boys so much!! thanks for sharing :)
Glad how they stopped just to address the passed out audience.
Where is it
@@AferAlR Semi-pro time.
The big vocal moment in Understand is sooo sick
I went to the Columbus show and much of the audience went SILENT for this moment - I don’t think anyone expected it and we were all in shock and awe.
@@happy-composer If I was at that show I probably would have ruined it by belting along with them 😭😂😎
and how happy decarlo looks while nathan does his lil guitar solo hehe
@@alliechotikul1621 saw them live last night and didn’t expect it at all! So awesome!!!!
Understand and then Bambi?! I will pass out. I can’t wait to see them in April!!
Did you end up going to see them? I saw them on Easter here in Houston and it was amazing I really love this band
@@hernandezorange29 That show was awesome, they play so well live
