Primordial's Alan Nemthamga Averill on 'Exile Amongst The Ruins' - MI Podcast #45
Переглядів 1,5 тис.6 років тому
For a band used to rave reviews, this one's been contentious. 'Exile Amongst The Ruins' has opened up a new chapter for Primordial. They did what they had to do: they changed their sound. Evolved. It's had the Metalireland.com forum divided. But veteran vocalist Alan Averill is - as you'd expect - unapologetic. As ever, the MI podcast is a great chat and a deep dive. Do leave us a review on iTu...

How does a big metal label really work when you peek inside? Well, in this episode we ask the boss of one of the most important labels in the scene: Metal Blade. Metal Insight Podcast #20 - What's It Like On Release Day?
A disease for the ages is my favorite album from mourning beloveth.
Best doom band ever!
Covering one eye why do people do that??
I've watched a ton of interviews and she gives the same answer, like verbatim, to every question.
Ralph is a hero. Got some character. Knows who is, what he believes and what he thinks. What a brilliant player. Via Con Dios Compadre.
🤘🏻
So trichromes in Spun is a reference to weed
Cheers
"and then we brought in Troy Van Leeuwen and that was a perfect match" O H THE GUY FROM FAILURE AND A PERFECT CIRCLE WAS A PERFECT MATCH FOR CHELSEA WOLFE? yeah i agree...... holy shit that is serious QUEEN shit.
Wolf Moon is my favorite tune on October’s Rust 💚🎸(-) Love you to Death is definitely a great tune also
Pagan altar is my favourite band
You sir have a excellent taste,my whole life i was into heavy rock metal music,as i grow older somehow i lost my passion when i look around how much bullshit those bands selling out just for the buck, frase "stick it to the man" got lost and flame went down, then i discovered Pagan Altar,Cirith Ungol and Trouble,i was blowned away,i flew in realms between time and space especially with Altar, finally i found real deal, bad thing is im from Europe and im not a wealthy man so any kind of merch purchasing is gonna cost me double due to shipping and shit but i ordered some LP's cause fuck it,it's worth it
Great interview, thanks for this!!
What is so interesting is that she was born a boy and sounds so much like a girl.
wth... where did you get that from?
do you have her mixed up with another chelsea wolfe?
Thats another chelsea wolfe who is an athlete not an artist 😂
Rip
at the end chuck didn't hurt Masvidal about the gay factor. just said You don't know your own sexuality, please don't judge my way to be. thats all what he said.
R.I.P Schuldiner. R.I.P Reinert R.I.P Santolla R.I.P Clendenin.:( we have a whole band there by the way.
Such a quality interview and such a knowledgable journalist. Pure gold, cheers
Hot take: Type o Negative is not metal. Fucking great band, my favorite band since I heard them 25 years ago (proud to say I was in the top 1% of their listeners on Spotify this year), but I don't think they're a metal band.
Not a hot take, I agree with you. And I am sure Peter would have laughed if you call Type o a Metal band. First and foremost they were a pure rock band, just with very dark/gothic themes. Peter loved Sabbath and much more the Beatles, which may sound strange. Thats were Type o came from.
They toured with the metal bands in the 90s, they were part of the original OzzFest with Sabbath and Pantera, they were on RoadRunner records which is for metal bands. I say they're metal, but I get what you are saying.....
Growing up with Chris and going to high school with him and being in the first three bands he was in was a great experience especially burnt offering and doing the Frightmare demo have some really funny stories when we were all teenagers
Supervillain is an uncontested masterpiece
Lol he sounds pretty nervous
R I P santolla 🥃🤘
Great interview. Johnny always sounds like he has a permanent grin. I really REALLY miss this band.
I couldn't agree more with everything you'd said.
Finding your channel feels rewarding like discovering a band back when internet was not as accessible.
Awesome interview with the amazing talented kelly
I always figured Daria was a type o fan. Nice.
Steve and Scott are the best no matter what they do!! Good podcast man thoe
Great interview. Thanks for uploading this. Mikes a legend🙏🏼
Having witnessed the madness that were Medulla Nocte in Trillians,Newcastle circa '99-2000 with Underule and Stampin' Ground,I'd never seen a more chaotic and furious performance.Blew my mind completely.
R.I.P.
Exuvia is one of my favorite records from ROB. He rules hard! Im just finding Dread Sovereign but am a big fan of Primordial. Great podcast btw man\,,/,
by the way Kenny Hickey also has Irish ancestry. Hickey is an Americanized Irish surname.
"Obulus" has great lyrics, it's a monstrosity of a track on a great album with beautiful artwork.
Chelsea is the shit
Jew Hish
lol at the very end. Kenny trying out for a Type O Negative tribute band. That'd blow their minds if he decided to call and ask to try out
This was a pleasant conversation to listen to. Thanks for the upload

How does thia channel have such a small following? Honestly the only decent interview channel on yt that focuses on metal/alternative. Interesting, mature, not ass licking... Keep it up. Cheers
1st lp sounds like shit???? WHAAAT??? Its fuckin perfect!! Do me a favour lads..
You should of lacerated Satyr for completey selling out and taking his band into the toilet after rebel
When does your next record come out??
Always happy to stumble on stuff like this... Great interview. Keep kicking ass, Johnny! Your music lives forever...don't forget that!
This guy had the best cassette collection I've very seen.boxes just kept coming!
Good job on the interview. It's good to see their view on the approach they took on this album. I, too, find it "soothing" for a death metal album. And I sense the ray of light that comes from Idol.
one of the best dark keyboardists ever seen
The interviewer almost sounded like Pete Steele
well he is the singer in a type o tribute band! :)
No
more like John Lennon
Really enjoyed this. Thank you.
Innovator in her own dark right, a perfect sound and a pretty face! ...addicted !!!
Great interview. 👏
