They replaced my 2021 hyundai konas engine after 50,000 miles because of excessive oil consumption.

We are experiencing the same problem but now our engine is making noise like is diesel 😅 did you got any update on what should we do to it ?

Hyundai dealers are horrible. We got a notice of a recall for the brakes in the mail, so I took it our 2014 Elantra to the dealership to have it taken care of. Well next thing you know gentleman comes to the waiting room and says our high mount third brake light is not working. I had the car to my local mechanic that I have been going to for well over thirty years do the required annual state safety inspection the day before and all lights MUST work, or the car does not pass and receive its windshield sticker, so I know it was working. I go with him to the service area, and he shows me a wire that is disconnected. I tell him to go ahead and reconnect it. Well, they did and charged me 58.00 dollars. I asked what they did for the recall, and he shows me this tiny rubber thing that went somewhere down by the brake pedal. Guess they are not going to get you in there for a recall or anything else and not make a dollar or one hundred from you.

In 2020 my wife's 2014b Hyundai Elantra had a check engine light on so we took it to the dealership to have it checked. The code said misfire cylinder four. They replaced the sparkplug and coil and charged un 126.00. When we got home my wife said the light was still on. She was trying to call me as I was in my truck but I had forgot my phone so the next morning I took the car back and they said they would check it. Turns out it was low compression cylinder four. You would never know it but for the light being on. They replaced the short block basically they whole engine except for the cylinder head. A year later it developed an oil leak. Took it back and they said it was the oil pan gasket. I thought they would remove the oil pan clean the surfaces and replace the gasket. Nope, they replaced the oil pan and charged us 400.00 dollars. Done with Hyundai.

there's a recall for this vehicle 19-21, my car started burning oil so imma take it to the dealer soon. I actually found a pcv valve could be bad, its a 5 mins change tomorrow.

oil is too thin, use a thicker oil, that oil almost looks like water, id be using a 10w30 or a 15w40.

oils cheap engines are not make sure you put the correct oil in it

I just started the process of buying a 2019 Kona now im finding out about the manufacturing problem with the piston rings. Now im horrified thst im buying a used one (no 100k mile powwrtrain warranty) But the one im buying is only 18k miles on it. I will be checking the oil OFTEN

Yeah i bought a 20 allso 1500 one quart of oil has 70 000 miles on it bought it brand new told dealer ship it burns oil what a lier dont matter what kind i put in it amz oil brad penn still burns oil hyundia will do nothing about it

:The problem is the compression rings aren't tempered right so they wear rapidly or uneven then the engine starts burning oil. Hyundai will do everything they can to not warranty the problem. If you stick with the problem long enough they will install a new short block with normal rings. It's all bs

The Korean government is trying to get Hyundai to issue a recall for oil consumption. It's a big deal in South Korea.

We have the same problem. We are doing a lemon law buyback through Hyundai so maybe try and call Hyundai’s customer service line directly and don’t go through the dealership. We had similar problems with the dealership running us around.

I think id start saving the oil from your oil changes & using it for "topping off " . It'll help save a little money , and most newer synthetic oil is good for 10,000 plus miles

See if you can use 5w30. I found Quaker state to be a solid 5w30 for my Kia 1.6 liter . It also used oil.

Have you changed your PCV valve .

the new engine will have issues and possibly the transmission, trade it in for a honda

I have a 2013 sonata 2.0T with 148K just got a new engine 2 weeks ago from it going bad. Never had a issue with the car for 7 years bought her new In 2015 as a left over. Now she is burning oil like crazy with the new engine. Now hyundai told me to come back and get another engine lol. My God hopefully 3 times is a charm. Never buying a hyundai again unless they give me a deal to trade her in or something.

Needs a new motor. Has 20 other Kia’s lined up with needs new motor tags on them.😂😂😂😂. I wouldn’t trust that engine on a backyard go cart. Korean engineering. 😬🫣

Your Hyundai is a hybrid it burns oil and petrol another disatisfied Hyundai owner don't you watch Scotty Kilmer well firstly l live in Australia and l own a 1997 toyota hilux with 430000 kms on it and it does not burn oil theres a hint there buy a Toyots Honda Mazda they don't burn oil dome Toyotas do certain engines do l would never myself by a Hyundai or Kia to much on Google and you tube about how bad they are l have never known any car company thst has replaced motirs tranmissions more recalld and Hyundais and Kias are easy to steal just type in Kia Kids on you tube

Guys stay a way from Hyundai. There is a lot of info on social media that the engines have many problems. Very bad engine design.

since 2012 Hyundai and Kia have been producing cars with oil consumption problems . They claim they don't have a problem so then why are so many engines failing. Sorry they are not my cup of tea. It;s either Toyota or Honda as my preference.

Happy you got it fixed but you should never let it get that low. It only takes 4 Quarts.
