Hey yo those centipede can live up to 9 -10 years. Whos been in that neighborhood longer? Plus they eat sooooo many bugs that are worse. They show that a healthy ecosystem is functioning. They are apex predators of everyother insect smaller then them. Those are some awesome creatures and shouldn't be just killed. I dig it in my bed i dont wanna find em . But they aint dumb stupid bugs when you live 10years you gotta learn something about survival. And mostly when they encounter us they make haste away from us and our flashlight and scissors (wow) they are very important for us and the environment. I say be cautious and let live. Maybe the best thing is to actually educate yourself about them beyond what this wahine say. Anyways Aloha from Big Island Hawaii 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Great video
@@JustbentFishing mahalo!!
I'm will not go to the Hawaiian Islands because of Centipede's. No way !
Oh so sorry to hear. You just need to be careful and exercise caution. I hope that this video is helpful for awareness but I hope it does not deterr you from visiting the islands!
please dont harm them...... release all of them ... garden island!! on the e.side i've seen some BIG centipedes!! iIN MY BED!! they'll bring you good luck!
By the time I see it my cats tortured the poor guy. Oh, I'm not child less cat lady.
they luv to sting tourist.
Centipedes are very devilish as you described and the only good thing about them, they eat insects. They are another version of a scorpion. They are not out to get you, unless you become a threat to them. One of their worst enemies are chickens, because centipedes are like caviar to them. Several ways to kill them, fire, hot water, splicing them (as you've mentioned) and brake fluid cleaner (something to do with type of solvent). Prevention is to keep your landscape clean, not have large rocks. Roach or sticky pads, helps to catch them and they'll eventually die.
Vietnamese centipede is the MOST venomous species. The only centipede to have a recorded human fataility.
Have a can of bug spray, like Raid!!!! Stops them in there track.

Just a note: Foodland and Popeyes have yet to open. Many new businesses in the Waikoloa plaza are stuck in the permit process. Foodland's estimated opening date is 2026. It is also essential for prospective buyers of the Waikoloa Village area to know that there is only a single road in or out of the community serving 7000+ people. As Waikoloa is in one of the most fire-risk areas of the Big Island, wildfires are a real threat, and a single road makes evacuations difficult. A second road for the village may take 20+ years, and the village is expected to grow by the thousands in that time.
Mahalo for sharing! This is great information and I thank you for adding it for value. Sending lots of Aloha your way!

@louisegraham8571 Hi there! For pool outings, I do use the sunscreen that I mentioned. For beach outings I have mineral sunscreen. I didn't mention this but I am glad that you also use Mineral sunscreen.

People constantly come here and complain that its "backward" or "behind the times." If you miss the conveniences and opportunities back home, you probably should stay there. The worst thing is to come here and try to change it to be like somewhere else. If you want to own vacation rentals, why dont you go invest in a place thats set up for that and it doesnt displace the local population. I am born and raised in Kona and I've seen the poulation quadruple in just the last 20 years. And thats not including the tourists. Our infrastructure and stores are not meant for this many people. And the workforce is shorthanded with local working families leaving and beinf replaced by people that want to work from home, own vacation rentals and turo cars, or just the load of retirees that do not contribute to the workforce.
Respect. Often practiced as racism. Like all of the Hawaiian islands there is a healthy dose of reverse racism against mainlanders who are white. Not all of course.
Prejudice people just need to grow up.
You do feel the ground moving n get scared. What do you do? Good question. Pray quietly!

Hi really great video! Do you think If I were to buy land on the Hilo Side of the Island in the Pahoa / Hawaiian Beaches area, I would be allowed to build a Tiny Home?
@@Technical-i9x you can certainly do! Feel free to send an email to maly@discoverthebigisland.com so that we can assess your goals and needs!
Mahalo for these continued videos! We bought our lot in HPP as a first step of our 5 year plan a few months ago. I’m wondering if it would be beneficial to ship one car then the other when you’re ready to move everything else? We also have a pet and I’m sure there’ll be different rules by time we move but it sounds like you were able to get everything done beforehand with the vet, and leave the same day as your pet. I haven’t looked deep into this since it’s so far away time wise, but I thought there was a quarantine timeframe for the dog? We plan on getting a tiny home on a trailer to avoid long waits for permits then building a home once we are there so we don’t have an added expense of renting in the meantime (with a permit application for each item way before we move). 5 years goes by fast! Mahalo for all of the information!
I feel for the locals. It is also happening in other beautiful locations too. My adult children can't afford a home in our location. Prices for homes and land have skyrocketed!

Hi, question … Is Hawaiian Paradise Park Ok with Tiny Houses ?
@@SuarezBulls yes, lots of tiny homes in this area.
I hope the STVR vermin are packing to leave!!!!!
The solution is simple. It starts with requiring a Hawaii State driver's license to acquire a STVR permit. As long as locals are operating, it's fine. When foreign investors (out of state or out of country) come in it artificially drives up prices and all the money leaves.
Dont move here, we have to deal eith this kinda peeps alreadt🤦

The contamination of the water in Kona is from the cesspools.
@@jimonthebeachinkona That is correct Sir!
I use to work on a stvr. I made good money doing maintenance work. Maui county closed it up. The owner tried to rent it to locals renters. No one wanted to live there. The owners paid taxes on the stvr. Now the owner just pay regular property tax. The government lost big on that income.

Economics have changed. As we are going from Post Industrial economics to service oriented industry of a consumer economy. Fiat currency (Monopoly money) only gets inflated. Land is limited and consumer goods are imported.

Grateful for this conversation
Mahalo for watching!
Regulations are needed but not to the extreme they are. It is driving low to middle income citizens, farmers, ranchers, out of the rural areas into the cities. The Government is building pack and stack public housing. It's actually happening EVERYWHERE including on the mainland. Inflation along with non-Americans (ie China, Canada etc) are buying land and houses by outbidding Americans and paying cash. That has become a serious issue. Average middle income Americans are driven to renting. Then greedy landlords raise the rent over time. Becoming one big NYC. Hawaii is unaffordable for middle income Americans who dream of owning their own place. But whether it's in Hawaii or elsewhere, to experience your God given right to pursue your happiness by buying in rural areas, unless you pull together with family to buy, it's unattainable. Only the weathy will be able to have their piece of paradise. Us little people will own nothing and have to be satisfied with a concrete community, stack & pack housing and eating bugs.😢
Thank you for adding to the conversation. This matter is very complex and solutions are needed for local residents.
@@discoverthebigisland Well the solution is very simple: adopt the housing model of Singapore (which is about the size of Molokai, with a population of nearly 6 million, hardly any of whom are homeless or destitute): a _strategic_ amount of high-rise apartment complexes --- NOT a building spree like in China. But of course, the NIMBY-ers block any such proposals and their implementation.
When will the Hawaiian people wake up and quit keeping the same old Democrats that say they're for the people, while helping the elitist take land and fastrack building for their rich friends? The actual governor of Hawaii was actively trying to to take generational land from Hawaiians after Lahaina burned. Its sick and disgusting what government and law enforcement did there, contributing to needless deaths. Clean house
