Tennis Singles : NTRP 3.5 - 4? [Poor Shotmaking]
Haven’t uploaded my tennis games in a while because I recently lost again in the first round of the STA tournament, playing really badly recently. Have been spending time working on my groundstrokes
But here is a combination of a few of the singles that I have played over the past 2 months. Would upload my tournament match in the next video. Feel free to comment!

Singles with Cary : NTRP 4 Tennis

Late upload to UA-cam as I was too busy with work. This was a game that I didn’t play too well but there were still some positive sides to it such as maintaining focus in the first set to climb back up from almost losing it. Cary always manages to return my balls no matter how hot the weather is or how “fast” I am hitting my winners making me doubt my aggressive shots. Am I not transferring eno...

Gotta be another disappointing match all over again 🥲 groundstrokes are off, recovery positions are off, absolutely no sense of the balls at all. Hitting multiple enforced errors like water flowing out of a broken tap. What a day Ben is 3-0 and is currently undefeated by yours truly. Haven’t had a chance to play recently but managed to fine tennis game today! Came in with a mindset to reduce the unforced errors and yet maintaining aggressiveness in my shots. Although the intent was met, felt that I the opportunity to move towards forehand shots should have been done more often as that was my strength. Played another match on the same day of that disappointing tennis tournament match that I had played. Glad I managed to find an opponent to play with despite the last minute post on Rovo. This was an extremely long match of up at 1hr45mins of playing. The game format is a fast four (no ad) as the schedules were pushed back to the poor weather conditions yesterday. Well, this was another disappointing tournament match where I couldn’t move my feet much and my stamina couldn’t outlast the hot sun. Pretty rare to be able to book an indoor court at the Kallang tennis hub! I was slightly late and wasn’t able to warm up properly thus the poor performance throughout the match. STA tournaments don’t allow us to warm up longer and we are limited to only 15minutes for serves, strokes and volleys ; something that I have to tackle with the lack of warm ups. Interesting game throughout and it was p...

Been playing a couple of matches recently and posting a new video that I played last week. It was the second time using the hybrid poly strings and it has been quite interesting as I was able to feel more and generate more spin. Playing a third time with Tushar and constantly working on maintaining aggression with consistency. The first set was rather bad as I couldn’t seem to be making sense of my shots 🤣 making a whole lot of unforced errors when not needed. Shouldn’t have played this day as I wasn’t able to serve properly nor have any decent groundstrokes. However, thanks to my opponent Ryan, he lent me some muscle spray and it worked wonders!! We'd have a lot of fun playing together. I have a comment about your serve -- leave the ground and jump forward into the ball, even if you're hitting that big round topspin stroke. Your left foot is virtually on a pivot and gets maybe 3" of vertical. You've got the legs launch upward. Use 'em. Nice hitting!

Thanks for the kind comments. @leisurefarm I would seriously say we both played horrible (way below each of our normal standards) this session. I would rate my performance here as 5/10 of my capabilities. Bad day. I was already physically quite beaten up (with a swollen right knee) but was super keen to try the Kallang Indoor so I linked up with Nat, prepared to just hit around (as strings were also knowingly quite dead) and play a very easy going game. Was in fact a little taken aback when Nat whipped out his camera and said he would record the session as I knew it would only be crap from me. As sure as Roger's forehand, 51yr old me, started off fine but was already panting midway by the 3all point, huffing and puffing, armed with uncontrollable dead strings and unwilling footwork that kept me struggling in simple shot production. Nat had to edit out all the time i took in between serves, as i was trying to catch my breath back. 🥲Consistency together with strength and footwork, of course, went completely downhill as my stamina ran on reserve despite trying very hard not to show it. As for Nat, I really appreciate his gamestyle, fast committed hitting with crisp serves and taking the right chances whenever he can. None of that pusher shit. However, he had his fair share of unforced errors in this game which i am sure, frustrated him too. Overall Nat was quick and agile around the court, as seen especially with the tweener, a complete contrast of my sluggish lethargic painful crawling. I guess I was asking for it, going up against someone 20 yrs my junior in a singles game. My dressing younger didnt help either, damn.🤣😂...hahaha. Cheers😄😀.

you seem to be your own biggest enemy in tennis, you are never out hit and it's always you who hit wide or long. If you wanna improve you should work on the high balls you get in the middle and learn to take them higher so you can put them away, instead of letting them drop making you have to hit upward reducing your ability to generate pace and angles. You get so many of those points on most of your matches because of your strong ground strokes and serve. Basically practice going into the ball more and learning to see when the ball will be short so you can take it shoulder or slightly below shoulder level instead of waiting short balls to drop to hip or even below hip level. This is not a technique thing it's mostly a ball reading skill

Definitely you had the skills and chance of defeating Joao! In the tournament, your opponent might be more nervous than you. So, try to keep the consistency level high at least the first 3 or 4 games without going for too much. Aim to hit inside the lines (1m from the lines) rather than on the lines. When the nerves settle, you can go for a bit more but still need to balance between attacks and defence and yet keep the consistency level up.

Improve your consistency. Too many unforced errors for a 3.5. Try to keep the ball on the court, other than try to hit a winner every shot. Angulate less, control more, keep the ball playing until you can secure a proper winner. You're missing A LOT of returns because you're trying to hit a very angulated ball in a narrow window. Keep the ball playing, don't try to finish in 2 balls. Your opponent is cashing on your mistakes with zero effort. The backhand also needs a lot of work. Also, why always playing baseline? Try to attack from the net, you did a solid job when you tried in a few points. There's a lot to improve, but you play well.
